engagement ring for men?

i'm pretty sure my boyfriend is going to propose to me over the next few weeks - we've looked at rings and talked about where we'd like to have the ceremony, plus we have our anniversary as well as christmas and my birthday before the end of the month. i feel like i would like to give him some sort of gift when he gives me a ring, does anyone have any ideas?

do men wear engagement rings? is that lame? is a watch appropriate? i have no idea, i don't know any man who's gotten something along those lines... but i would really like to give something.
