Unhappy I need parenting insight... !!

Hi everyone... Oh I'm tired!! I'm a new mother my son is only 1 and I don't seem to have any type of energy for anything. I feel as if I'm not being a good mom because I cant play with him because I always feel tired! Im a stay at home mom and I thought that being at home and cleaning, cooking and looking after your child wouldn't be so demanding but for me its exhausting...
What is a new mother to do? What can I do different? I want to have the energy for my child and I want to be able not to feel so horrible about myself either.
I've haven't yet lost my baby fat and I don't find the motivation to exercise.
Any parents with any advice will be greatly appreciated. I don't know who to turn to because I cant talk to other parents about this because I feel I'll get judge.Thanks.

Hiya,

My new mom days are over since my child is going to be 2 soon, but, I know how you feel. I took up dancing. (ballroom and swing). I found a place that offered lessons. Itgets me out of the house one night a week, and it has done wonders for my energy.

Do you have a chance to get out og the house at all?

First thing you probably need to do, (if you haven't already), is work out a steady schedule and follow it.

Include nap time for yourself as well!!

Hi new mom! I'm tellin ya that what Moose said here can work wonders if you haven't done this already. Work out a schedule and stick to it and take naps with your baby. Also, instead of "conventional" excersize, I'd put some long strolls on that schedule everyday! I used to bundle my son up and walk, walk, and walk. It feels good to get out and about and you won't realise until you start shedding pounds how helpful it really is. Also, it gives you energy. Oh and make sure you eat right! Fruits, veggies, things you'd give to your child.

Don't feel bad though, you would be surprised how many new moms has said this. People think that being a stay at home mom is not as much work when it's actually a non stop 365 day job! I bow to you!

Thank You Sooo Much!

Well thank you everyone for all your advice. It has opened up my eyes. I have tried to have a schedule but I cant wake up in the morning. I feel so tired and I think about anyway to start up my boost of energy and I get nothing. I cant find an answer to my poor metabolism. I will try once more on the schedule thing, I want to be a good mother.
I have time to go out till night time after my husband comes home. But i'm a little scared to go to the gym and people looking at me. I'm not ugly... I know I'm attractive but with sweats and no make up and a pony tale as a woman I cant feel so attractive.

First, if you haven't, talk to a doctor. Make sure this isn't actually a symptom of something else, like your thyroid out of whack.

Secondly, I wholeheartedly agree with the other posters regarding a schedule and exercise. Also, make sure that your diet is fairly regular. If you are eating 800 calories one day and 2100 the next, your metabolism is going to be perpetually confused. A daily multivitamin would be good, as well.

Third, make some time everyday just for you. Put the baby down for a nap and take a bath, or do some knitting, maybe some yoga, watch some t.v., whatever relaxes you. Hopefully, this will give you a little boost to get through the rest of the day.

I wish you luck! Hugs!

Yup, I agree with everthing others said. Something I didn't know before beginning some kind of exercise was that exercising, even a brisk walk, gives you more energy than you had before the exercise. Maybe setting the alarm and getting up right away even if you feel tired will start your day on a better note and then when baby naps or goes to bed for the night you'll fall aslepp faster and rest better so you can start your next day anew. If all else fails to perk you up, please talk to your doctor.
