hey was just wondering what is the importance of godparents these days do people actually still have them and does ur baby have to be baptised to have godparents or not???????

can go both ways, in my way of thinking.

you can ask someone to be that child's godparent, and he/she acts like that aunt or uncle and is a visible presence in their life, but not necessarily have to witness a baptism. That person often also acts as moral support to the parent.
