Brother is a punk

I'm not calling him names, but that is a good descriptive word for what I feel like he is being right now. I also do not want to blame him for family problems, but lately he has been acting like he doesn't care/respect anyone's feelings and is too cool to work anything out with the family.

Whenever someone confronts him of his behavior he runs out the front door. I know he has issues that he feels he can't talk to us about, and I admit I still remember what I felt like at that age. It's just frustrating because I'm his sister (a lot older) and he still thinks I'm the enemy and that I don't get him at all. He doesn't know that I understand him, a lot of my friends are/feel like him, that I care about his feelings, and try to help. He feels that everyone who is going to talk to him is going to put him down, and I feel like part of that is is a manifestation of him being frustrated of the way things are run at our house, and I'm just going to conclude he is a bad person like my parents do. He forgets we're under the same rules, and that I don't agree with everything either.

He doesn't get that he needs to be a little accountable and responsible for his actions. The frustrating part is trying to tell him to work around the house, like pick up after himself. He is kicked out of school so he doesn't have any work to do for the rest of the school year. Today I asked him to just clean up a little bit so he isn't sitting watching TV all day, and I asked him to not throw my sweater on the floor (bottom stair) when he was cleaning out his bucket of laundry, and he starts arguing me which blows up into a huge argument because he wouldn't pick it up, and then steps on the sweater (which is why I didn't want it on the floor). He storms out of the house and leaves. I probably shouldn't have yelled at him, but I'm so sick of this whole thing of him being in trouble with the cops at 15 and getting into arguments with the parents and it puts the family in a funk. I really try not to b**** about anything, lately I have been because I am running out of patience. (Like picking up my sweater) I usually can laugh at his teenage quirks but its starting to annoy me now.

I even suggest to my parents to get him more involved with people who can be a better influence on him. My parents just say he is a follower not a leader (to give u an impression of what kind of people they are - not bad - just rigid and slightly closed minded) And want to keep him IN the house, with no contact with other kids. He might be if he gets house arrest after his hearing! }:[

\The parents keep asking me to talk to him to try to get him to open up, and give him direction, ask me where he is all the time. He doesn't give anyone a chance, and I want to just give up and never talk to him until he is out of this stage. Any suggestions to what I should say to him? or should I just leave it all up to my parents.

im sympathetic. ill bet some of the stuff going on with him has made him lose some self-esteem.. could explain the tv watching all day. is he too cool to sit down and watch a movie with? how bout a card game? you're not the enemy, he'll figure that out eventually.. just play it cool, and don't get so frustrated with him you pity him.. go ahead and tell him you don't want to pick up his crap, he'll come around.
