Although I don't personally believe in "breaks" the difference is a "break" from the relationship is when the parties involved choose to step back from the relationship not seeing each other with the idea that they will get back together... a "break up" is when the parties choose to end the relationship permantly. There is an understanding that after a certain amount of time, whether or not the issue has been resolved, the two parties will attempt to get back together. A breakup usually means completely over although some people probably use the terms interchangeably. Link to post Share on other sites
