Rx-induced ED

New Again

If you start dating a guy and you have a good sex life that both people are satisfied with, do you think the guy should have to ask permission and/or discuss with his gf whether or not he should take a drug that can cause (and in him does cause) ED and/or a very low sex drive?

This is of course assuming that the drug is not life-saving, and it is not imperative for his health to take it.

Just off the top of my head I can think of prescriptions that (can) cause this for male pattern hair loss, to possibly help quit smoking, etc.

He absolutely should discuss this with his girlfriend. A VERY important aspect of the relationship would be adversely affected for a good period of time. This could easily be a deal breaker for some women, who consider sex a very significant part of their relationship. There are some who may hang in there if the situation is temporary...but for even those the length of "temporary" would be the key.

Don't spring this on her without notice. She will be pissed if you do.

I'm going bald.

I honestly can't imagine taking anything on purpose that would knock my wang out of commission just so I can grow my hair back.

It's a bad trade-off.

Plus, you gotta take propecia forever or your hair falls out again.

Doesn't make sense to me.

Smoking, well there has to be other methods of quiting smoking than a drug that again knocks your wang out of commision.

I suppose you can take viagra but the whole thing just sounds dumb to me.

The real question is, why would you hide such a thing? Why wouldn't you WANT to share this with her and get her support?

If my BF needed or wanted to take something that might affect things in our relationship, I'd be really hurt that he didn't think enough of me to share it with me.

Anabolic steroids cause ED as well... I hope you are not considering that.
