things that make you happy

What are the things that make you happy ? (moments, hobbies...)

I'm trying hard to recover from a break up and twists in my life which I

didn't see coming.

So In my journey on trying to become happy on my own, I would like to hear some thoughts?

I've allways had problems 'recognizing' when I'm happy. I know that sounds stupid, but It's allmost like I need the contrast of something negative too see or 'feel' it.

thanks in advance

It depends who you are and what's important to you. For me, on a daily basis, my pets are my biggest reward.

I'm easily amused these days, and if I have a day off that I know is coming and know I won't have too much time off before the next job, then I enjoy a day off hanging with my pets, going to eat Mexican food, and watching a ghosty tv show in bed with a snack.

If I had time and money, I'd be happy doing some travel. I'm at my most serene on a river or on the water. That's when I feel most primal. Away from all the white noise, I can feel my instincts tune in to nature and just be.

happiness or content and serene?

You sound like you are ready to re-evaluate some life choices to get you to "be" happy. Its simple, be it.

instead of seeing life as hurdles... see it as it is... perfect in the moments.

What relief when we find out that its been there the whole time, we just had to get out of our former way.

Found happiness thru comedy.. a good belly laugh does wonders some days!

When I went to see a life coach an exercise she gave me was write down everything you enjoy doing. My list included eating KFC, playing sports, writing, reading, watching films and walking to name just a few.

Maybe you could write everything you enjoy doing and also moments that bring you joy. Include everything from big to small.

You be interested when you look at that list.

If i may, sometimes helping other people helps others get into a better mood and helps them feel better, if at least for a while.

By helping other people i mean go to a church and see what you can volunteer for, and so on and so forth.

And if nothing else, some people will think fondly of you for at least helping for a little while.

But sometimes it truly is like what Magneto says in X-Men First Class.

Peace is not an option.

For me my happy moments include being all cosy in bed with a snack and a drink and something to read (any time of day for that one), campfires (either in the garden or when camping) and toasting marshmallows with the kids or drinking wine and chatting with friends, laughing with friends in general, having my house clean and tidy, finishing a work or college assignment, sunny days, rainy days when I'm home and cosy, a good cup of tea with one sugar, food - at the moment Insalata Tricolore with a nice glass of red floats my boat.

Life. Being alive & in good health. Being born & living in a somewhat free country. "Every day you're above ground is a good day."

I can derive happiness out of just about anything I'm doing, but I especially enjoy taking long hikes and daydreaming about different stories I'm coming up with. Let my imagination flow. :o

Other things include listening to Howard Stern, seeing a movie in the theater, going to a baseball game and basking in the energy of the crowd, dicking around with a broken computer, beating people in arguments on loveshack and last but not least ringing Timshel's doorbell. Sappy but true. =/

Soft, high quality sheets. Laying in bed naked and feeling them caress my skin. I just got a new duvet cover and it's heaven. If I add in a good book, a soft cat, and some hot tea, that's happiness!

They say spending a little time in the sun boosts happiness. So does exercise, getting those endorphins going. (And it'll make you more attractive when you're ready for your next relationship).

A sense of accomplishment. When I do something at work or home that makes me feel proud. Especially if it was something engrossing that required a lot of work. That feeling of achievement is great.

Hanging out with friends and enjoying good food.

From a young age, very young 5/6, I remember going to our horse pasture to pray. I would get on my knees and tell God everything and just talk. I can't remember any distance/separation in all these years or ever.

God/Love/Truth were always right there with me and I am grateful and happy for that, beyond words.

I am happy because of my children and how kind and smart they are. Kind people, because there is nothing that makes a person happy more than kindness. My pups, cutest/craziest dogs ever. :)

My bf, patient, funny and good in bed.

The wind, the rain, the beach....salt water air. Hugs, laughter and good food.

Love, Honor, Perseverance and Hope. Honestly, laughter. The world is wacky and weird. Laughter and Love make me happy.
