I feel so lonely

Yes, I have friends who are guys and friends who are girls but what I don't have yet is a girlfriend.

Well I'm 17, high school student in my last year (school finishes in October +exams). Now after going to a friend of a friend's gathering, I've come to realised something.

I have friends but I feel lonely at times.

A number of my friends have people they can cuddle, kiss, talk about whatever I really want somebody to do that with.

I haven't had a girlfriend before but I have asked two girls out with not much luck.

I'm not saying that I only want a girlfriend cause my friends have one but I don't know, I would really like to have one though.

Now I know I should be concentrating on my studies but I can't help it.

At my school there a girls who are hot and what not but I'm not really interested in them.

The two girls I asked out where co-workers at Coles Supermarket. Not the smartest decision but a brave one.

Now I figured if I want to meet someone, its going to be from meeting friends of friends but my parents don't want me to go to any parties at this point (studies), at work as in random shoppers or when I'm out in shopping centres etc.

My problem is that I can't imagine myself noticing someone who looks interestring and randomly start talking them.

EG

*I sees random girl*

*I walk up to her*

Me: Hi, I'm xxx

Same situation at work. Can't really see myself saying things to random shoppers unless they start talking to me though that doesn't happen.

I don't know what to do, I feel kinda depressed at the moment cause most of my friends have someone.

I sound so sad (not in the crying sense).

I know how you feel, everyone at school is kinda gross, and going out with them would be awkward, and I often don't have time to go out and socialize because of my studies. At the end of the day you kinda sigh and think, oh well, there's always tomorrow. I think all we can really do is bear through it and hopefully we'll get some luck once we hit uni/tafe/where ever your going once you graduate.

The other theory is "seize the day" and just go for it, something I would like to do... but probably wouldn't.

Good luck my friend, you're not alone.
