Should I leave the past in the past?

Recommended Posts

When I was about 15, I was good friends with a guy named matt. We used to talk on the phone for hours, we snuck around behind my parents back and hung out a few times and he even told me he loved me once. I think we may have become something more than friends, but my parents forbid it and I ended up moving away and losing contact with him. Now, 6 years later, I'm getting divorced, and I wonder what could have happened if I hadn't have moved. I found out where matt works and I really want to contact him, but I'm afraid he'll think it's weird that some girl he knew when he was a teenager is calling him, after so many years. Should I try to get up the nerve to call him, or should I just leave the past in the past?

It's up to you. Be wary of revisiting the past but then again unless you do something you'll never know and that might drive you crazy! If you do decide to meet him it might be best to just "chance meet him" - if it's a public place you can go to just bump into him. If he grew up near you then just hang around and say you were checking on the old neighbourhood that sort of thing. If he works in an office/factory/station somewhere you can't just bump into him then either hang round nearby.

Last if you must then call him - I just suggested the above because you don't want to appear desperate or like you specifically sought him out. Make it into a you fancied a chat, how you doing, back in town... that sort of thing and then do you fancy hooking up to go somewhere. I mean do you know what he's been doing all this time? Is he married? In a relatiobship? Just as you've changed so might he.
