Fixing my tic... and successful cold approaching

Hi, I unfortunately have an odd tic that makes me smirk when I am tired and have more difficulty smiling while expressing open body language.

I came to this party absolutely tired as heck because I had been having 14 hour days this week.

What I did was to have a little sampler of wine, and then went to the monthly resident party that my apartment building holds. I cold approached a beautiful pharmacy student who was wearing scrubs, and had a conversation in front of her friends, while focusing on her. I started by saying well hey, we have matching outfits. I managed to keep a conversation for five minutes just riffing on pharmacy stuff. I noted her attraction level wasn't that great but she was being polite and kind, so I kindly ended the conversation without a single smirk.

I've been able to overcome this effing tic of involuntary smirking and have been able to express great body language even while I wanted to fall asleep I was so tired.

I had no energy whatsoever to do escalation and wasn't sensing any genuine attraction, but I was really happy that I was able to smile and joke when I was dead tired. This only happens once every few months.

So push on gentlemen! Continue to approach! Be unfailing in your dedication to get the woman you want.

Good for you! Now, what does your smirk look like, exactly? Is it one side of your mouth is smiling or is it kinda oogly? I have to say an old flame of mine had the BEST smirk, a half-smile.

Good for you getting out there Garcon. Meeting and conversing with strangers lays good foundations for when you meet someone you're really into. I maintain that events such as these are the best way to meet people. And there's always the possibility that you'll make a new friend who will introduce you to her friend or include you in their social circle.

And for what it's worth, approaching someone who's at a party isn't a cold approach because they are there to socialise. A real cold approach (the kind I dislike) is when I'm going about my business and some dude approaches me from out of nowhere. I've got to say, one of the benefits of getting old is that cold approaches are a thing of the past now.

My smirk looks like the appearance of royalty disapproving of a peasant, it's really not pleasant to see. It's a mild attempt at a smile but not a good one. It unfortunately comes out when I'm tired.

Garcon, if you can continue with these types of self depreciating one liners, you're half way there. I know it's a very real problem for you, but your description really hit the spot. Loved it.
