A quite sobering lesson in attractiveness.

Recommended Posts

Hi, I went on photofeeler and put my dating profile pics up. I actually was expecting average, but I indeed got scores ranging from a 4 to a 6. That explains why I only attract morbidly obese African American women on Tinder and Bumble. Fairly close to my expectations. Explains why a cute Israeli soldier would never date me.

Just being honest - I have no intention of forming relationships with morbidly obese women; I could only see such women as my patients.

So - I'm exercising with a religious determination to get more muscle (I am 6ft and fairly lean, working on the arms and the sixpack). I've worked on my smile for months and it's better than before. I've got a good haircut and can share pics via private message if need be.

What else am I missing to increase my physical attractiveness?

PS I found one curiosity - well built African American men can get away with a posing picture playing a saxophone. My picture doing the same thing was rated as a 4. How can that be?

4 to 6 IS average, no?

I have no advice since I would never use a site like that to rate my attractiveness.

I already know that I am good looking so I would never post my pic on one of those lame websites

Back to in the day there was a webpage called hot or not... I put my pics up and got a solid 8 that ran for months..

I'm average.. very much so but one thing I never figured on is that my pics were attractive to the gay audience as well..hahahaha

Guys also rate guys photos...

So your numbers maybe not accurate because men may not like your photos....

Don't let that get you down... Like me being an 8 I didn't let it go to my head because I knew in was a 7 with a great paying job that pushed me up higher

I found the site very helpful. It's not so much hot or not, but rather how a particular photo portrays you (confident, trustworthy, attractive, etc.).

I was surprised to learn that one of my successive photos was rated higher than my primary photo - so I changed it and got more hits as a result when using OLD.

Also, I got helpful feedback like cropping to zoom in, etc.

The same person can look MUCH better (or worse) in one pic over another - it's helpful to get unbiased opinions and you can target your audience (I picked women in my target age range).

I read an interesting article about the importance of the right pictures when using OLD. The author used Steve Buscemi as an example. Showing a photo of him that made him attractive/mysterious.

Let's face it, men are terrible at photos and need all the help we can get.

If you are a man using OLD, this site is required.

Doubt it's your looks per se, they probably sense something about you, like your confidence levels, in the pictures that's turning them off.

I never photographed well and met my wife online. She's hot. :)

Can't believe the world that must go on out there these days or what people seem to put themselves through.

Holy smoke

ps , and l'm proud of my one pack too haha, and my woman loves it. She;s always pulling my shirt up and feeling it and kissing it and loves sleeping on it.

Skip the gym and try mcdonalds :bunny::bunny::bunny:

Ok, I just took a quick look on that site.

I don't think your rating is based so much on your LOOKS but on what type of picture you are posting.

Haircut yes, smile yes, but a six pack is not going to suddenly transform you from a 4-6 to an 8, is it? Seems like a lot of work for little reward.

The gym seems to be the male "go to" whenever they hit a bump -

"I used to neglect her and was a sh*tty bf, she left me, I m going down the gym to show her how much I have changed"

Eh???

The gym is good for concentrating minds, providing focus and learning discipline no doubt, but how good it is for attracting and keeping women - I am just a bit sceptical.

Sometimes we are not aware of what other people can see. If you pm me your photo I'll give you my honest opinion and suggestions.

When I was online dating, the picture that got the most response was the one I liked the least.

Maybe you can try a new hairstyle.

Women tend to be attracted to men who have concentrated minds, laser focus and discipline.

The six-pack doesn't hurt either.

Depends on the woman...Most that only consider that as a criteria are pretty dopey...

But then no man or woman should ever think of fitness as a tool to attract the opposite sex..It may be helpful, but it should always just be a part of your daily regimen for the obvious physical and mental health benefits..

WHY would you ever put your picture on one of those sites? I’d love to see the people who are judging these pictures...

Do you have a particular someone in mind that you want to impress? Say, at a guess, a cute Israeli soldier? If that's the case, you need to find what she's attracted to.

You will never be physically attractive to everyone; the key is to find yourself attractive enough to put yourself out there and let the chips fall where they may. If this means getting some abs, so be it. Can you sustain them long-term, though?

These things need maintenance, so you should really bulk up for yourself, because it makes you feel good; not to attract women.

Stop posting pictures on the internet asking people to rate your level of attractiveness.

Seriously.

I mean if you're not certain that your going to have hordes of attractive women running after you then what's the point???

AND even if you did have tons of women running after you it would lead to other problems. The best thing to do is to meet women in real life and don't post photos on the internet pertaining to sexy stuff. It's sort of the gateway to hell IMO.

As another poster mentioned above, 4-6 is/covers average. You were obviously expecting to be rated above average.

Well I think I am a 7 on the Asian scale. That maybe means 4-6 on the American scale ;)

I think I am going to open a business that helps men with their clothing/hair style, dating bio and profile pics :lmao: There must be a service like that already run by people from the design world (I wouldn't trust dating coaches on that one, they seem too preppy to get that)

A little help can make any men look cute or at least cuter than their profile shows.

Several pictures I see on men's dating profiles are so terrifyingly bad, (light, angle, showing their forehead shining etc) sometimes I feel like matching with them just to let them know they need better pics. I think investing a few hundred bucks in taking professional shots might help those guys if they don't have a friend who can take a few good pics.

I actually asked my local photographers to help me and they all refused. So I set up my own pro camera shoot and remote controlled everything. []

I stop to get my tea in the AM at a place that is adjacent to a train station to NYC...I see guys walk in there with all the "textbook" stuff...Stupid looking beard, Pointy shoes, haircut that flips up in the front, "skinnY" pants, tight button up shirt that highlights their moobs and flabby gut, etc, etc...

They still look like jerkoffs that women wont go for....Not that any of that stuff is particularly bad, it just doesn't work for everyone, yet thats what people do..

Women do it as well..The shirts with the exposed shoulders looks great on women with toned bodies and great style, but not every Mary on the street will be able to rock it...

I don't have much style because they don't make the obvious "popular' stuff to fit my body type...I mostly look shytty, really as unless I wanted to spend a pile of money on custom clothes, it wont happen...In fact, Id probably contend I get most attention from women in my gym gear(noy exposing any skin) with a hat turned backwards...*shrug*

As for pics, one of the main complaints I hear from guys is that the pics they see on line of women NEVER look like the actual woman...They ALWAYS look worse in person...Ever notice that every woman takes photos as if the camera was 3 feet above their head? Its an obvious move to hide something...

My only point is don't fuss so much with photos and getting everything perfect...If you were going to sell your car and it had a dent in the fender what would be the point of photographing it without showing the dent? They will see it eventually, right?

Hahaha! Edgygirl, I am the same way. Sometimes I see a guy and I just want to fix his hair. And I have actually contacted men on okcupid with suggestions for their profiles and pics.
