Are you looking for your Mr. Right too?

I am just curious how ladies nowadays think of Mr. Right - if they still believe they can find one or are they doing ways how on to find this person.

I don't believe in the concept, especially since a lot of people end up never having met anyone, despite having wanted a relationship. I think there are loads of potential suitors, but a lot is influenced by how fussy each partner is about what they expect in a mate, how good a partner someone is day-in-day-out, and by what is going on in someone's life (you can miss an opportunity, because you've lost your job or a parent etc, and are not receptive to anything but your misfortune).

I no longer believe but I still hope.

I figure a dream that grand is worth the effort so I keep myself busy. I go out as much as I can and I dabble with OLD.

It was kind of a Sherlock Holmes thing. Once you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains, no matter how improbable, must be the truth.

After you weed through all the wrong guys, you will find the right one.

I thought I found him...twice...but it was not the case. I'm still looking for him but am happy to settle for Mr. Right NOW in the meantime ;)

I hope I have met my someone. He feels like 'my someone'.

What I did is date around the clock. I did online dating, accepted blind dates set up by family, I gave my number to men approaching me in public places, I was open to any possibilities.

I met him online but it was a long journey. I had been online 3,5 years and went on close to 200 dates. I never gave up, never let the disappointments bring me down. I am the type of person that believes if you want something you try till you get it even if you die trying.

As a guy I can tell you how NOT to find them. Don't go out to the bars and expect to find the man of your dreams. Between the alcohol and the sweet talking he will give you you will FEEL like you met the man of your dreams. Until you wake up the next morning and he says "I have to go now - I'm meeting my wife for breakfast at 8:00. Thanks for the good time!".

I don't think there's such thing as a 'Mr. Right'. Some people are right for you, some people aren't, but I doubt that there's a perfect 'special' person in the world just for you.

I like your persistence Gaeta! Hope you find your Mr. Right soon!

I'm afraid you're right, Katie Jackson. There are just 'degrees' of rightness. Most people settle for a little rightness too soon before they can find that person that is 'extremely' right for him/her....

Why is that being true something to be "afraid" of? You find a balance between what you and someone else are looking for in life and it's right enough. That's what people have done outside of romantic comedies for millenia.

I don't get people's attachment to the whole concept of the one. There's 7.2 billion people out there and I'm supposed to find one of them? That would be awful.

If so, what are the ways you did to find him?

I was but then I wrote this to myself:

" I feel so free. I have wondered about men, tried to alter my looks, approach them (although it was rare & I knew it was unnecessary), had my heart stepped on, ignored & humiliated by men.

Before I continue, I know that women do this too, I have relatives who I am very close to that are men so I am aware of that.

I have finally chosen to take the best route to maintain my sanity & most importantly my confidence.

I will just try to take even more care of myself, keep high quality make up, nice hair styles, dress well and all that, for myself. I am not looking to compensate but being my best definitely makes me feel very good, I feel like I am treating myself with the upmost respect.

Sadly have come to the conclusion that no one knows how well I should be treated or see how much of a prize I am. I have accepted the fact that I might not end up finding anyone, honestly, I don't know if he's out there. The good part in all of this is that I don't have to follow all this advice online, play a bunch of mind games or wait and wonder why a current love interest does this or that.

I am not ranting but this is a peaceful and subtle rave of the reality that I am living & from here taking the happiest road I can right now.

To you, this my last love letter & final break up...

Take care"

I know but I needed to write this out and come to terms with my luck. I can't worry about a bunch of people who just don't like me.

Plus people would "trigger" that longing I have had inside by saying I am going to find someone one day. I hate sharing this with people because I don't want to look anymore. At all...

What I do is I keep a cattle prod fully charged in my handbag and if I see one that looks like I might fancy him I electrocute them as I drive past.

Sometimes they are too heavy to lift into the boot so I have to leave them by the side of the road... These ones can be a pain when they report you to the police for attempted kidnapping... I recommend only tazering the skinny ones. Oh and alwasy keep some good quality thick rope, handcuff and a few gags handy.

...really must invest in a better winch... I digress... :D

Other than that I dabble with OLD, I go out to concerts, theatre, shows, lessons, talks and random weird things that are fun. I talk to people, men and women, a lot while out shopping or going about my day to day life.

Oh, I don't know anything about furniture. ;)

'Phwoar look at the legs on that, etc'

Is it a good thing to look for Mr.Right though? Does that not create an ideal that might not exist? I'm not saying you should settle, but surely there must be a point where someone is good enough?

For those who do not have any standard in finding their perfect partner (or do not believe that Mr. Right exist), what is your standard in choosing your partner then?

Lady, if you're ever down Australia way, drop us a line. I'd pay for a nice dinner and drinks just to hear the stories you've lived :-D

For those who do not have any standard in finding their perfect partner (or do not believe that Mr. Right exist), what is your standard in choosing your partner then?

1. Sanity is a must. Or at least some form of semblance towards sanity

2. No drugs or excessive drinking or smoking

3. Able to walk for a couple of hours at a decent pace with out keeling over

4. Some teeth

5. A car that is not on bricks

6. A job

7. A sense of humour

8. A penis and preferably no boobs or ones that are smaller than mine

9. The ability to grow stubble

10. Must like dogs

Actually I don't have a standard. I take each man as he comes and see where the wind blows. Any signs of any nasty or abusive behavior and I am gone like a ferret up a pipe.

Thing is that I do not know what my "perfect partner" looks like or what his character is like because I haven't met him yet... So why guess, why not go out and meet people instead?
