Feel like I'm in HS again...

Recommended Posts

So I'm finally ready to start dating after I ended a 3yr relationship awhile ago. Problem is, I go to school 2hrs from home and the dating scene out here is completely dead. My bff suggested I try online dating. So I tried okcupid but changed the settings to my hometown so I'd get more realistic matches.

I now realize I hate online dating. It was hard to find people I was even attracted to. I sent out a few messages, only got one reply. So me and this girl started messaging and then texting for hours. I really liked her and she seemed like someone I would want to date. Way too early, but I'll admit I fantasized about what it would be like to be in a relationship with her. A lot. Then I texted her back at 5:30pm yesterday, haven't heard from her since.

and the feeling of rejection is just like high school. Only now I'm old enough to know I might be overreacting. But I do hate the uncertainty of dating. Hard to know if you're coming on too strong or if you said something that turned the person off. Trying to remember how to flirt and not be too available. I guess I forgot how stressful it can be.

Anybody else having a crappy time trying to find someone?

Most online people fail to do one important thing...fail to ask the person out. I've chatted with guys online but after a day or two of chatting I move on, not looking for pen pals. Don't know if my answer helps you...

Yeah. Idk how it works with women dating women though. She's a 'stud' and I'm more on the fem side. I did initiate the contact and I was leading the convo most of the time, but I didn't want to be a creep and ask her to meet when it had only been a couple days talking, although I would like to meet her in person.

Now I'm thinking if she does decide to text at some point, maybe I should wait before responding so I don't seem desperate. ugh, I'm awful at this.
