misspond Posted August 4, 2015 Share Posted August 4, 2015 (edited) A month ago I was about to delete my OKC account after countless messages from much much younger men looking for a bedpost notch (sorry, not interested however pretty you are) and a horrible coffee date with a man my age. I don't stay on OKC for long at any one time, it's all too demoralising to be honest. But then I got a message from a man who lives not too far away, a bit younger, and who if I'm honest I passed by when his profile came up. Then I looked at his full profile and pics after he messaged me and he seemed to be quite a nice man. So I sent a message back and since then we've had a full-on whatsapp conversation daily. I started another thread about this because I was wary of the extended text-lationship thing, I was wary of building something in 2D that would feel disappointing in 3D. Ten days ago we had a coffee/crazy golf/pub meet and greet which was good (even with slightly awkward bits) and I was the one who said, "We should do this again." He agreed and that afternoon when he got home (we live in different towns) sent me a list of dates when he was free (we're both single working parents, I have less free time than he does) so we met for dinner and drinks last Friday evening (I paid my half of dinner and wine without being asked to, he bought two rounds of drinks in the pub afterwards if you're interested - this is just to feed in to the on-going question of, "Who pays?....") The tension was mounting by the time we got to the pub and I suggested he kiss me so that we could get that bit out of the way. Stop-the-bus. Proper butterflies all round. I sent him home that night but we met the next day at 2pm and he eventually went home at 6pm the day after. "On paper" we wouldn't be a match but in real life we get on really well, I'm much more wary than he is but I'm enjoying his pursuit of me and he seems to understand/be undeterred by my slightly less than full-on enthusiastic responses to him. I'm not trying to put him off, I'm just being me. It sounds cheesy to say that when he did some card tricks for me in the pub on Friday (yes, really) I softened up quite a lot. We're also both a bit geeky/dorky.... Anyway... tl;dr OKC seems to have worked (for now) after five years of on-and-off messing around. I think I'm a bit smitten but I'm British and a feminazi so I won't be telling him that just yet. I'll just hint at it......
