"Can you keep up?"

I've seen this said in profiles of women (not sure about the men) where they have the typical profile then on OK Cupid, where they have the "Send me a message if...."

Then they list something and one of them says, "If you think you can keep up."

This is a rather subjective situation, is it not? Personally, I think I know what it means, but it's really depends on ones OWN perspective.

Does it mean she's always active? Lack of availability? Always too busy? Walks faster than most people? Hyperactive? Could it be considered a red flag?

It just raises a lot of questions.

Maybe she wants a running partner? Or wants to rule out couch potatoes and those whose idea of a fun friday night is staying in with a dvd and a bottle of wine (another profile cliché I'm sure you've seen).

Yes, it's open to interpretation. Sometimes that adds intrigue to a profile.

As soon as I saw this subject line I knew it'd be an irc333 thread. Hello :)

I wouldn't see it as a red flag, well not any more than I would any other OLD cliche line. It simply means she is active and wants someone who is active too.

Yes, it's open to interpretation. Sometimes that adds intrigue to a profile.

And sometimes it's just a cliche' with an attitude... she considers herself superior; the unattainable prize; too formidable for mere mortals; judgmental; entitled; likes to keep a man on the defensive as whether he can match her impossible standards. I steer way clear of that crap.

Who wants to be with a woman who is predisposed to dissatisfaction, expects a man to make sure she's constantly dazzled and adequately entertained? A woman who can't appreciate an evening in watching a movie, cooking a nice meal, enjoying a good bottle of wine is not one I'd be inclined to suffer. This is probably the type who, if you flew her to dinner in Paris on your private jet, would complain about the collection at the Louvre being ho-hum, not sophisticated enough for her impeccable taste.

I consider throwing down the gauntlet like that to be a signal that she just doesn't get it. It's always going to be all about her.

I think it is an old cliche.

It meant to be seen as issuing a challenge, "date me if you dare", sort of thing.

It is meant to show she is not your average woman, she is different, interesting exciting, she will keep you chasing after her.

However it is over-used IMO and some can just do without the drama...

It is a cliche and it just means she is an active person and wants somebody active too. Yes, it's got a bit of a "I dare you" quality and that might be annoying to people (it would probably annoy me); she probably thinks it's more of a "come-hither" thing, and to some men, it might be. Clearly, you are not one of those men. But then, you can always not contact her, so that settles that.

I feel like it's also getting to be a bit of a cliche to say to you, OP, that if you don't like something you see in a woman's profile, then by all means, move on.

You know before you ask a question about women's behavior, you might want to search through the threads of another poster "irc333". You both seem to have such similar questions and experiences! Eerie!

In fact, this very same question was asked by irc333, within the past few weeks ago too:

I know what a coincidence!

Does it matter? Maybe you shouldn't be doing OLD if this simple statement causes your head to spin.

I know what a coincidence!

Another coincidence, irc333's last post was 90 minutes before this guy's first post.

Amazing "coincidence"...!

Let's not forget the obvious suggestiveness of the question.

Well, the only visual I can get out of this is when I'm reminded of a time recently where I went out with friends to a locally and family owned sports bar. There were servers doing their thing, going at a normal pace, but there was this one unusually fast moving waitress, rather necessarily fast......power walker's pace. Buzzing around like a humming bird. She was our waitress, and I joked, "Careful, you may be going faster than the posted speed limit!" lol.

But, I was wondering if that's an example. Like you're out with a date, and though you try to meander through a nice, down town market with her, she's going twice as fast a walking pace as you are.

Last woman I dated said one of her ex's complained that she was always walking a good distance in front of him. That she wasn't thoughtful enough to stay by his side.

Though, this is a literal example, but it could be just that? Literal? Though that was one of the many problems in their relationship, the whole idea of someone lacking the ability to kind of "sit back and smell the flowers" is rather off-putting IF this is the case. Could not even be the case.

Yea, I thought of that too. She might be a nymphomaniac, in which case I'd be more accommodating.

I dont think its aboout sex.....

The way I see it, she just doesnt want a lazy, belchingh/farting, lump of shyt that sits around doing nothing...

I dont see anything wrong with it....Id still challenge her to a push up contest, just to break her stones a bit....:p

Look at the bright side....At least she isnt looking for her "partner in crime"..>Love that one..."so when do we get to hit the liquor store"?
