"All roads lead to college..."

To some extent, that's still my buddy's philosophy if you're looking for a SO, a good party, also a job lead (though he first enrolled in college at a time when it was common to just keep going to college in order to avoid having to get a real job). He kept parroting that college was THE ONLY place to meet women, that became a problem between us.

Eventually I figured it out: my buddy kept telling me that women who weren't in college weren't worth meeting because to him (and a lot of other people in the college scene), campus life was its own big bubble, a kind of alternative universe which was part meat market and part refuge where you could forget about jobs and bills and all the other things that stress us out here in the real world. He thought meetups and any kind of dating service as a joke because they're not inside the college system bubble.

Then the economy tanked, and all of a sudden a whole mess of people started enrolling in college to get skills for new jobs just to survive. This popped the cozy bubble which had previously been populated mostly with jocks and nerds. And meetups started getting more popular... some petered out because the organizers didn't know what they were doing, while others had their act together and are hugely successful today.

Anyhow, my buddy still has that philosophy that all roads lead to college (he won't date women who aren't students), but at least since I've enjoyed a modicum of success meeting women at meetups, my buddy is no longer preaching the gospel of St. University to try to convert me.

Kinda funny how own very signature you are telling yourself not to listen to your friend, yet here you are posting about this rather socially limited child. :lmao:

Well... the guy is book-smart, but comes up short in the street smarts dept... he also tends to be kind of tunnel-visioned and thinks one size fits all.
