"Can you keep me interested" or "Don't bore me"

Recommended Posts

What am I a circus clown? LOL

I was wondering, lately I've seen women put their profiles, "Please don't be boring" or "Can you keep my interest?"

What are we some kind of cruise director that's there for her entertainment?

I figured I'd just proposition her for sex if she doesn't want to do anything boring...I mean...what else is there to do that's more exciting than that? LOL

IRC plenty of young women have an attitude towards OLD that it is enternatinment, a chance at a free meal, and a way to kill time. I have even heard some young women look at dating as a way to make ends meet for not having to pay for food.

So yes, you are the cruise director. They expect a floor show and a buffet.

As the last reply said, it makes it easy to next such women.

Ha ha. I don't like that kind of power play that is common to women more than men. I don't understand the entitlement behind it or the willingness to make the person you're with feel so expendable. But I think it comes from an attitude that some who have struggled in the dating world find comforting. That they should think of themselves as a prize to be won. And only a worthy man is going to rise to the occasion. (i.e. there are few truly worthy guys and that's the explanation for why she's still single.)

Mostly what I think happens is the attitude is quickly revealed as having no substance when she finds she is trying just as hard or harder to impress a guy she likes. Or else the relationship wells up with conflict and resentment because she can't let go of the princess act and the threat that underlies it. Either way, it really is just an act. And only a really desperate guy would sincerely step up to the plate. Or else a guy interested in the challenge to find out how flimsy her presentation actually is.

It could also be a way to present themselves as more confident. Maybe they want to send a message of "I know I'm appealing, so you're really gonna have to step up your game if you wanna get with me!" I'd probably find that a little intimidating, but some guys might be turned on by it.

Problem is, it's not too helpful, is it? If you don't even know her, how do you know what she finds "boring?"

Maybe she only wants to hear from really confident guys who would read that sentence and go "Pshaw, I ain't boring! She'll love me!" If you're questioning whether you're too boring for her, maybe you're just not her type.

Or maybe not, it's really impossible to tell anything from those profiles.

realize that women under the age of 40, under 200 lbs and not otherwise disfigured or deformed can get literally hundreds of messages and offers a day online.

(if they are over 40, over 200lbs and are disfigured and deformed they only get multiple dozens a day)

Many of those offers are completely desperate and over the top. Even for women that are completely invisible and overlooked in the real physical world, this can create an impression that men are a very cheap and abundant resource and if one of them won't be a dancing monkey for them, the next one will.

It's very easy for people to get a distorted view of reality and a distorted view of their market value in the dating market place and can get a very exaggerated sense of entitlement.

I didn't experience this until you get to the women who are out of college but too young to be part of the 'divorcee' crowd. When you are online they are VERY easy to spot because they will babble on about romance or a proper date but show little enthusiasm for low-key, low-cost options. Take it from me if a girl really wants to meet you she'll meet you most anywhere unless it sounds totally unsafe or like you just want to bang (IE the 'come over at 10pm when I'm drunk).
