theres this guy a like, when i see him a get butterflies in my tummy. We see each other about 3 times a week at the gym, he has such a nice way with people. We only started talking to each other lately because he is shy and so am I. I am kind of having sleepless over the fact that I want to ask him to go for coffee etc but he do not know how he feels about me, I do not want to make an ass out of myself if he says no. CAN ANYONE PLEASE HELP!

There is nothing wrong with asking someone to coffee. If anything, you can go just as friends. Coffee isn't a date...its just to talk and get to know each other. Don't stress over it...although it might be hard not to bc of how he makes you feel. But take that out of the question. You don't know him very well. Only what you see of him 3 times a week, which isn't much. Make a deal with yourself that the reason you are going is so you can get to know him and SEE if he is worthy of your sleeplessness. :)

just be casual. As Ally points out, coffee doesn't equal a date, but is a good way to get to know someone. Also, make the invitation an open-ended one, that way if he can't make it right away because of a prior commitment, at least he knows you're interested in getting together with him at a time that works for both of you.

unless you blather on and on about yourself, or are incredibly insulting to him, I doubt you'll make an ass of yourself.

first - you need to strike up conversation with him a few times before asking him, to feel him out (he may have a girlfriend)

second - then, you can say, "you know, i really enjoy talking with you. you always have something interesting to say. maybe one day we can go for coffee/soda/smoothie after the gym so we can talk some more" or something like that.

this way, you are both already at the gym, so ... it's easy to go from there.

good luck.
