I would like to have a date with my coworker. How do I know that I like her as a girlfriend. we went on several walks and then we had lunch. she is cool. How can I let her know that she is pretty without all of the sudden scaring her off. Eventually, I would like to make it official with her. All the time she tells me she has to go to the gym to loose weight, I want to tell her something but I don't know a sweet response that i can say to her. help?

well- after a couple weeks u can say that u notice progress - like "wow, u've lost weight, i can tell!"...

if she is overweight, dont try to tell her she isn't - she'll know u'r lying...

and ask her out for pete's sake...!

good luck.

How closely do you work with this co-worker? If she's someone with whom you have little or no contact on a professional level, then I don't see a huge problem with asking her out if you think you're receiving positive signals. If on the other hand you actually work with this woman, then you'd best be very careful here (and when I say "very", I mean "extremely"). If things don't work out as you'd like them to you will not have the option of seeing her less to avoid any awkwardness or unpleasantness between the two of you. You'll be forced to see her every day because you still work with her, and no matter how much you want to look on the bright side you must still take that potential pitfall into serious consideration.

You're not this woman's boss, are you? That would be unethical and possibly illegal in most countries, but I'm sure you know that already. :) I thought I'd make sure while I'm on the subject.

Anyway, assuming both you and she don't interact very closely in the workplace and are reasonably mature people, there's no need to be too fancy when getting things started. If she's genuinely interested, it won't require a brilliant romantic pick-up line on your part to get her attention. You want to tread lightly here anyway, because of the whole work/romance conflict of interest. Perhaps you could say you think she's a wonderful person and you'd be interested in getting to know her outside of the workplace. Then if she doesn't shut you down right away, ask her out to dinner, or even just for coffee. Hopefully she'll be interested, but if not you'll just have to accept that and back off a bit. It's entirely possible she'll want to keep your relationship a working one.

Hope that helps some.

1. "I would like to have a date with my coworker."

That's great. Ask her out.

2. "How do I know that I like her as a girlfriend."

You don't know and you won't know until you've dated her for a while and find out if she's right for you.

3. "we went on several walks and then we had lunch. she is cool."

Well, she was certainly cool during that time but you'll have to take more walks and do more things with her before you decide on the girlfriend thing. And, remember, she has to want you for a boyfriend as well.

4. "How can I let her know that she is pretty without all of the sudden scaring her off."

Why would that scare her off? Just tell her you find her very attract...or tell her she looks really great on a certain day. Whatever you do, don't overdo it and don't make a big issue out of it.

5. "Eventually, I would like to make it official with her."

How would you know that? That's how you feel now based on your limited knowledge of her. Slow down and give it some time.

6. "All the time she tells me she has to go to the gym to loose weight, I want to tell her something but I don't know a sweet response that i can say to her. help?"

Tell her the guys at the gym are really lucky to be able to spend time with her in the same work-out room.

But on the other hand. I have been seeing someone on and off at my place of work for over a year now. And right now our r/s is off to nothing more than friends and coworkers.

I have also known this person for a decade so even though we split up we remain as close as family. Give yourself time. Time is the key. If you can be goodfriends with her first you can have a great r/s.

I hate to tell you this but there are hundreds of thousands of Joes all over the world. This particular Joe, I'm quite sure, meant absolutely no harm by using the nickname "Joe"...most likely he had no idea there was a Joe who was a regular here.
