How to handle this situation?

Recommended Posts

Please bear in mind Im really new to this entire thing and I have no experience in talking to girls about relationships and dating, etc.

Anyways, there's this girl that I really like that goes to my school(college). I first noticed her when I caught her several times(5 or so over the course of a week) turning back and smiling in my direction. She sits in the very front and im a couple rows back and to the right, so theres not much other reason for her to be looking my way. Also, ive passed her a couple times on campus and when she saw me she just smiled and looked down. I briefly spoke to her during class this past week and added her as a facebook friend so we could exchange info about the class and help each other out.

Im clueless when it comes to body language and that sorta stuff but I am assuming the smiling means she has at least some interest in me. When checking out her facebook ive found out shes single, but has one of those "Whos interested in me" applications and expresses interest in other guys and has guys express interest in her several times daily. I guess this means she is looking or is interested in dating?

Theres a sorta big college event coming up in a couple weeks that Id like to take her to, but since ive never really asked a girl out i wouldnt know where to start. Do i just go up to her after class and say 'Hey, if your not doing anything Friday night, do you want to come with me to so-and-so?'. Wouldnt that be weird after only talking to her about class once or twice?

I really like this girl and dont wanna seem too forward or freak her out. What should my next move be?

Thanks guys.

First things first, don't try to guess what she's thinking or feeling just by her body language. A smile is a good enough reason to think she's interested in you.

But what I do is always assume there is interest. That way, there's no reason NOT to approach her!

Also, quit trying to figure out what she's doing by the amount of crap on her facebook page. A lot of that junk is added because someone's friend sent them an invite, and they don't wanna hurt their feelings, bla bla bla.

Tell her (in person) "Anyway, I gotta go, but I'd love to chat with you later! Give me your number and we'll do something later this week".

It's that easy!

Note: Don't say something dumb like "so, um, well, do you wanna go out with me?" NEVER ask for permission from the woman when going for a date. Make statements. This makes your intentions clear, it makes you appear confident in what you're doing, and you don't sound like a whiny little b1tch. :) If she's not interested, she'll let you know.

After you get the number, figure out a day, a time, an activity, and a location for the date. Then call her up and tell her what you have planned. If she can't make it or doesn't like the activity, she'll let you know.

Also, avoid dinner + a movie. That's so goddam traditional, boring and overdone. Take her to the roller-rink or play pool or something else fun. Instead of remembering the movie, she'll remember the date, being with you on the date, and having fun.

Why don't you send a little flirty message on her facebook? That way, you can send a message w/o doing it face to face. Also, it can open a door to approaching her about being interested. You could say, "Hey, did you get my comment on facebook?" and grin.
