USMCHokie Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Spinoff thread from WintersNightTraveler in the boinking thread that has me slightly boggled... What makes someone so "sexy" to you based on their interest, views, or ability to debate in the world of politics...?
threebyfate Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Common interests like politics combined with critical thinking intelligence are uber sexay to me! But it's only part of the package.
carhill Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Power and popularity are aphrodisiacs. Fly with enough politicians and one gets the general picture. When the plane stops working, that's when they look for someone like me. Different strokes for different folks. Critical thinking intelligence of discussing airframes and powerplants just doesn't have the same sexy quality. Accepted.
MrNate Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Spinoff thread from WintersNightTraveler in the boinking thread that has me slightly boggled... What makes someone so "sexy" to you based on their interest, views, or ability to debate in the world of politics...? Men, not here. Politics is a wonderful mix of messy and pointless. Debating over what 'is' or 'should be' doesn't really give off that romantic connotation.
K'aycie Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I think for some people, it's the passion that a person has towards a particular view point, their belief and their support of it. Good debating skills are sexy as long as it's not overly extreme and/or rigid.

Critical thinking intelligence of discussing airframes and powerplants just doesn't have the same sexy quality. Accepted. I'd have to disagree. Popularity is meaningless especially if the individual is only pontificating politicking using emotional appeal as their leverage towards societal acceptance and adoration. This isn't critical thinking intelligence. It's smoke and mirrors. As far as real power is concerned, this is personal and comes from within. If you can make the subject of airframes and powerplants as interesting as politics, you might be surprised how much interest you engender reliant on the female target audience you're trying to appeal to. Some view information like an addictive drug. Passion in interests is also a major aphrodisiac as long as it doesn't interfere in the relationship.
Serenitynow Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Some people think talking about politics means you are smart, and hip to whats going on. I think anyone that sides with one person is or another purely because they are red or blue is just as ignorant as being a racist. Good debating skills are sexy as long as it's not overly extreme and/or rigid. I'd give my right nut to have a relationship with a women that can/enjoys debating, or even having a semi conscious discussion about anything half way important in life. I've tried having intelligent discussions with women in my area, and its like they get mad at me for making them use their brains. .
WintersNightTraveler Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Spinoff thread from WintersNightTraveler in the boinking thread that has me slightly boggled... What makes someone so "sexy" to you based on their interest, views, or ability to debate in the world of politics...? I love when anyone can hold their own discussing something I feel strongly about - or even better teach me a thing or two about it (or about something important that I don't know much about). If you call it "issues" or "current events" or something rather than "politics" it sounds more palatable and not a turn off. "Politics" has connotations of vote gerrymandering and bribes and all kinds of distasteful non sexy things. I hate discussing such things on the internet though even though in person I do it all the time. Anyway, I love it for either gender, and then of course when they also happen to be a pretty woman it only makes her more enticing as romance potential. It's sexy because I am genuinely interested in such things. It's sexy because it shows they are smart, and I am attracted to that. It's sexy because I won't be worried about what the hell to talk about when we're done having sex. It's sexy because I know I won't be bored in three weeks. It's sexy because it means there's a chance it won't be just about sex. It's sexy because if they are passionate and engaged about that subject, they might be passionate and engaged in the sack as well. Anyway, that's how I feel at least.
denise_xo Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Spinoff thread from WintersNightTraveler in the boinking thread that has me slightly boggled... What makes someone so "sexy" to you based on their interest, views, or ability to debate in the world of politics...? I'd definitely like a man to challenge me intellectually. Don't want dogmatic politicians though. Debating skills are only sexy when there's something genuine beneath. I like critical thinkers who can look beyond and connect the political with the philosophical, the spiritual, and with mundane everyday stuff like why do the men on the new zebra crossing signs where I live no longer have hats. They all use to have hats and I miss them.

Well you shouldn't have to give up any of your body parts in order to achieve that. So, hold on to those if you can.
Serenitynow Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Not like I'm ever gonna need them anyways .
Lady vs Panda Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I like a man who is smart, informed, articulate, and passionate about some subject. I personally like men who can debate/hold forth intelligently about politics, science, medicine, art, travel, and/or music as those are some subjects I also have interest in. There needs to be more, of course, but that's a damn good start.
Feelin Frisky Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 I find it kinda hard to respect and thus "love" someone who appears to me to be a narrow-minded dupe who just parrots some popular contrivance. I would prefer for instance my g/f to not like sports period than suddenly root for the team opposing my NY Giants in my presence when she shows no interest in sports otherwise. How does one not take that as a political beligerance--contentiousness apprently contrived just for me. WTF? Trying to annoy me? Success achieved. No kissy kissy, biotch.
melodymatters Posted August 23, 2010 Posted August 23, 2010 Since I was one of those "political groupies" on that thread I'll chime in ! I find the subject so fascinating, and though I read up as much as I can, I still have no where the width and breadth of knowledge these gents have. Smarts are always sexy, and a man who can teach you something is terrific. Plus I must add, that I AGREE with their views and therefore find them compssionate to their fellow man, another great trait.
