alclarkey Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 My brain is fried. I recieved this message from a beautiful girl, and I can't think of an appropriate response: "A beautiful life does not just happen, it is built daily by prayer, humilty, sacrifice and love. May that beautiful life be yours always" Any ladies want to give me a helping hand here?

elaina Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 What is this...The Brady Bunch? What? What's wrong with him wanting female's opinion of what to say to someone who sent him a nice message? If you don't like the message, that's fine. Maybe he doesn't either, but it seems he likes the girl, and as I am the kind of girl who would send that kind of message to a guy, I just gave advice. He can take it or leave it, so what's wrong?

elaina Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 You go to church every Sunday huh? Nope, I never said I did either. What's wrong? Did I offend you in any way? If I did, I'm sorry, but there was no reason to compare my post to the Brady Bunch (not that I don't like the Brady Bunch) I did use to watch it , but anyways, peace out. I'm outta here! No hard feelings, k?

Author alclarkey Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 Here's an idea, if you don't believe in christianity, or you plain just don't care (I do) then don't say anything. In fact put me on ignore if it bothers you that much.
Author alclarkey Posted August 11, 2010 Author Posted August 11, 2010 lol! funny sh*t Yeah real hilarious, another knee-jerk christian hating reaction.
Blade Runner Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 (edited) Yeah real hilarious, another knee-jerk christian hating reaction. Take it easy. I'm not anti Christian. I'm also not hating. The quote, if you look it up, is some quote they post on all those inspirational, and specifically -- Christian websites (for that particular quote). I have nothing against Christians, or Christianity, in fact I think it's a wonderful thing. I was just stating a fact. If you take facts the wrong way, that's your problem, not mine. Personally I just find it a little tongue in cheek when people send each other messages they ripped out of what may as well have been a hallmark card. That's just me. You posted a question that you really should answer yourself, so I was just havin' a little fun. But seriously. What did you expect? This isn't text-in-a-box. You've got your own personality, your own mind, your own feelings. Why ask other people how to reply to a quote? Seriously! Sorry! (tongue in cheek. I'm not sorry) Edited August 11, 2010 by Blade Runner

zengirl Posted August 11, 2010 Posted August 11, 2010 My brain is fried. I recieved this message from a beautiful girl, and I can't think of an appropriate response: Any ladies want to give me a helping hand here? Are you Christian? If I got that message from an attractive fellow, I'd do the same thing I do to anyone who mentions God in an email to me on a dating site (or on their profile). I'd say I'm a heathen and not their type. Sorry, but no thank you! (No offense to Christians, as my Mom is a Christian, I know many lovely Christians, but I don't want to raise Christian babies and need to be able to say things like, "The Jesus Myth" from time to time, which means I'm probably not right to date anyone who actively worships.) Really, how is anyone supposed to know how you should respond? But she's told you right off the bat how to impress her -- blather on about God. I wouldn't suggest it unless you share the same values. If you do, respond in kind.

If you do, respond in kind. Hello Zengirl, That's fine that you are not a Christian. I did feel a little bit discriminated against by some of the remarks others made. Maybe the OP did too. Thankfully, freedom of religion is a right that many Western countries have, and honestly, when the OP posted, I didn't see it as trying to force his or this girl's religious beliefs on anybody. I just saw this thread as him asking for advice on how to respond. So, that's why I think I was surprised at the sarcastic remarks, you know? Maybe I'm a little touchy and sensitive, I don't know. It was just a surprise. He wanted sincere advice, I think. I don't think he meant it to become a religious issue, you know? About Atheists, I know many lovely Atheists too. They are awesome and intelligent people (the ones I know) and thanks for acknowledging there are lovely Christians too. There are lovely people of every belief too.
