mr_atticus Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 It depends 100% on how much you care about the person. I dated a girl from Chile for 3.5 YEARS, sometimes not seeing her for a year at a time. Not that's an extreme case, but we were very, very in love and enjoyed being together despite the crappy geographic situation. Heck, we almost got married. I've decided now to limit myself to places I can fly in one day -- that is, mostly within the U.S.
mr_atticus Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Oh yeah, and Skype is your best friend. It makes it so much easier to bear.
Pink Cupcakes Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Sounds like they already know enough about each other that you just give them contact info (their emails, cell phones) then let them decide themselves if the distance is an issue, basically let them take it from there.
Rifareal Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 Distance is never an issue if you love a person no matter how far they are. Just by asking this i kinda think if do you really love that person.
Mary3 Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I agreed to meet halfway only because he was really HOT ! Great date but the hour distance was sucky... It died because I don't want to go through that each week.....
Ariadne Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 (edited) Think locally, within your metropolitan area So, what say you? What's too inconvenient to deal with? Anything more than 30 min will make it hard to meet during weekdays (if you work full time) and depending on work location, it can leave you that much farther from work in the morning. phineas Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 i've been driving 45 mins. (30 miles) to see a girl lately but we split up who drives to whose house fairly evenly. It's a nice drive in the country. not a big deal to me.
Mutant Debutante Posted July 21, 2010 Posted July 21, 2010 I've dated guys who live half an hour from me a bunch of times, without ever even thinking about it. Granted I have a weird schedule that has to be worked around anyway. It's really not a long drive though and there's always meeting in the middle if you're on public transit. An hour would give me pause, I'd have to feel like there was a lot of serious potential to make that work, because I have my baby sister at home and have to plan around her as well as my jobs.
