I just deactivated my fb. Good riddance.

Congrats.

And now when you're reading this message board you'll really begin to see how many times Facebook is referenced in a negative context.

It's like when you smoke.. you don't really realize how gross it is until you become and ex-smoker and have to cross a gauntlet of smokers as you enter a pub or a office tower... then you begin to realize "YUCH! That was me once! What the hell was I thinking..." ;)

I've deactivated it about 12 times in the past, but hopefully this time I'm done for good. I live in another state from my family so I justified using it to keep in contact with them, but that is what the phone is for right. And I keep sending my husbands EA messages and I've really got to stop that. lol

My family is in Spain, Switzerland, America, Canada... we are all over the place! We all stay in contact via email and Skype. The thing I like about Skype is it's free, and you can video conference. So it's nice to chat and see each other as well. And if I wanna send a picture or two I attach them to an email.

Somehow I do all that without creating a virtual fan club for myself on Facebook. :p

Actually someone I knew from university made a FB group for himself, and asked me to be a fan of him. At least he isn't hiding the fact he loves the attention:p

Facebook is a self promotional wankfest.

While it was useful to find some old schoolmates I'd lost touch with, for the most part it is filled with pointless conjecture and people boring me to tears with the minutaie of their lives.

No one is as happy as they pretend to be on fb, no one.

Take everything with a grain of salt. I once had an ex go crazy over the fact I wouldn't update my status to 'in a relationship'.

That was the end of FB for me.

I do have an account, recently reactivated, but I hardly use it. It bores the hell out of me after about 2 minutes.

The last girl I was seeing used it to express our relationship

"We're seeing each other, but we're not Facebook official"

I couldn't help but laugh in her face. :D I thought, but didn't say, WOW, yeah, Facebook is the be-all and end-all of everything.

And for the youth of today I think it really is.

Umm ...pretty sure this here is a social network site....So how would you like your humble pie served? I'll even add whipped cream at no charge :)

Mould or mold...I never knew they were interchangeable.

LS a Social Networking site? erm, yeah ok, its a forum!

Like Yellowshark has said

"This is a online discussion forum for people needing support and advice"

It's not a site where people can 'like' or *dislike* your posts

Pathetic

oh and for the record

"A mold or mould is a hollowed-out block that is filled with a liquid like plastic, glass, metal, or ceramic raw materials. The liquid hardens or sets inside the mold/mould, adopting its shape"

Ive never really like humble pie, I more like to serve a nice big mug of STFU ;)

Be so decent as to remove your inappropriate remarks. As a Lady, I think you can be somewhat civil. Thank you and please finish your dessert , it may make you a sweeter person to tolerate.

Touchy thing arent you, welp this is the social network place for you then!

Tayla, you obviously have very good reasons for using FB, so I think it's great you keep doing what works for you!

FB is not for everyone and I think this thread shows that in a very biased way. Meanwhile, people are on FB updating their statuses every hour... like that girl on my friends list I am yet to delete... ah the dilemma. Delete her, she will probably call me and ask why. Don't delete her, and I have to keep putting up with her updates. D=

I decided to deactivate my account for almost the same reasons as you guys. My ex who i went out with for a year (felt like my first true gf even though she isnt) found someone else.

At first i was really shocked & hated it, and tbh i still do but im not crying over it or acting desperate. But every time i look at her account or even talk to her or read anything about her life, I just want to kill myself cause the feelings crawl back into the hole she left in me.

The same things from everyone on my fb reminds me of her too still & tbh, fb has ruined my life in some small ways. Instead of deleting her again, i think ill just stop using fb as long as i can cause i don't even do anything productive on it & im always on it.

Thank you Bubble Freak for being fair minded with the fact that its how you utilize a network site that can be a positive experience , or for most NOT.

It has many features to block things. Like block status updates, or even who can send private messages. ITs learning what tools can work for you that gain the best level of keeping it real and not being overwhelmed.

Again thanks for being open about folks choices in todays' network world :)

Baby steps. I just deleted that girl that was aggravating me so much with on average 3 updates per waking hour about stupid crap. I finally check my FB after 2 days and my homepage is just spammed with her comments. Eye pollution. I hope she doesn't ask me why I deleted her, she's not that bad in person, but on FB I really don't want to know that she is going to sleep in 3 minutes, no 2 minutes, no 1 minute, or that she is about to go brush her teeth. AHHHHHHH!!!!

Dammit I shoulda just utilised the block updates function ealier to maintain my sanity.
