The title kinda sums this one up. Im not talking about giving them to any old person. But giving them to a woman you have been dating just because. Do women actually like getting flowers, or do they just pretend to?

It's illogical, useless, and a waste of money. My head says it's a waste of money.

But my heart goes "FLOWERS!" :) :) :)

It's just how it is, I'm afraid.

I totally, 100%, completely LOVE, LOVE, LOVE flowers. The thing is, if you're dealing with a person who's very practical minded and doesn't approve of spending money frivioulsly, then she might object - but I think most women truly love flowers, and they love the fact that you went to so much trouble to show her you were thinking of her.

I love flowers but I absolutely HATE red roses.. yuck..

Personally I don't like getting flower boquets. Because I put them in water and I slowly watch them die. It kills me.

I much prefer a live plant in a pot that I can keep for a long time and nuture.

Or a more practical gift, like paints and funky art supplies that I would never buy for myself.

One time, and one time only did I enjoy receiving flowers and I liked them so much, I drew the boquet on paper and mailed it back to the person who sent me the flowers. But I think it was more the fact that it was something from him, than the fact they were flowers. He was out of town at the time, but I wanted him to see the boquet for himself, so I drew the picture.

Nothing worse than roses. Is it me or do the heads droop after 24 hours. Then I feel bad, do I keep the droopy flowers, or do I throw them out. No right answer there.

I guess I'm not very romantic. (I'm female)

Come to think of it, I don't think I've ever officially gotten flowers from a man either! lol!

This!

Those super expensive long stem roses that come in a big white box from the florist...THAT is a waste of money...but a lovely $8.99 garden mix from trader joe's...makes me melt. :D

My boyfriend brings flowers to me when he comes to get his hair cut (I work in a salon)...this is the best!

I agree with this. I've actually started picking up the carnation bouquets at Safeway because they last forever and the colours are cheerful.

Yep...men need not think that expensive = better when it comes to flowers...they just have to be pretty, who cares how cheap they were, they're gonna die anyways!

They say they do but it is an easy way to make a woman fall out of love.

I absolutely agree!

Also, one of my favorite things I have ever gotten from my fiance was a mismatched bouquet of flowers from a local florist in our old city. He hand picked each flower based on what flowers and colors I liked. The bouquet was all over the place and nothing really went together, I was so in love with it

Must you take a figurative dump on every thread?

Talking about flowers, women do like it when they get flowers at work. As a guy, you will get called back (either to get chewed out :o:mad: or for :bunny::D)

They may get upset but they still appreciate the flowers and gesture. BTW: if both are BF/GF; they might be some fireworks later that night or the night before.

...in your experience.

Plus, I'd be willing to bet that your relationships haven't failed simply because you bought flowers. That's like saying, "wow, I got in three car accidents last year and all three times I was wearing a seatbelt! that must be the cause!"

I think you might be referring to this situation:

A guy does something REALLY stupid like fight with your parents, make out with another girl, get drunk and act like an ass or something else that needs a long talk to get over, and a genuine apology.

Instead of doing the "hard" thing, he just buys flowers and apologizes on the card instead.

THAT would help in the fall out of love-ness.

I like getting flowers, but not so much for the flowers themselves as the gesture. Any type of spontaneous gift is nice (as long as you aren't going overboard with them, like a gift every time you see her).

While I'd appreciate flowers, I'd be a lot more impressed with something more personal and relevant to me, something that shows he listens and pays attention to to what I like.

No silly, that's my old address!

BTW since it pertains to the topic, I'd rather get chocolates that flowers. Chocolate rules.

But flowers and chocolate would be too much win for any situation.

I'd buy flowers for a woman who deserved them. Every woman deserves flowers at her funeral. If there is another time a woman would deserve flowers, I can't think what it would be.
