Shadowplay: now that's what I call a sexy man!! (your avie) yummy yum yum

Yeah, that's why I chose it. And yet a lot of men would probably call him metro.

*Shudders in horror and distaste.*

I could die happy if I never saw another man in skinny jeans and Chucks

So nice to hear this from a female, thank you NA

You'll find that the truly talented ones don't feel the need to advertise: "I'm a musician, look at me, I look like a musician!"

You'd think, but in my experience there's little to no correlation between dress style and talent. Some of the most talented guys I know are the most offensively hipsterish in their dress.

Bob Dylan, Jimi Hendrix, Syd Barrett, all ostentatious hipsters. And I'd screw them all in the blink of an eye.

That guy in the picture looks any regular college kid. There is nothing weird or hipster about him.

Maybe the picture doesn't capture his style. It's subtle, but cute.

He's subtle about it.

Yeah who cares what women call him  He's hot!

He is preppy and totally yuppy looking yet he has that calm and laid back demeanor. He's got edge but not in a package of a starving artist. There ain't nothing metro about that. Metros are wanna be's with no personality, big difference.

James Spader tends to play big-personality roles.

All I can do is speak for myself and say that I consider myself a talented musician, I dress for comfort and warmth, I groom and all that but generally do not dress to impress, at all. I want to look sleek but it's not that important. Guys that put that much effort into their appearance are just vain.

Lol. I love your description and completely agree. So hot.

As long as you aren't sporting jammer pants or too much polar fleece, you are okay :)

Now THAT is disgusting.

Lots of product was involved to come up with that.

Here's an example of a subtle hipster guy I had the hots for at my old school:

 Kind of a douchebag, though, as you can tell from his smug face.

OK I'm more than surprised.... how would you rate this guy? he is way below average if you listen to me and nowhere near cute.... this guy gives a bad name to hipsters anywhere (if he is counted as one)

Men don't understand what (some) young women like. Guys dress like this to get laid by hot art chicks. And it works.

That's because girls don't know what's cool, and guys with sufficiently low self-respect capitalize on that ;)!

As for the suits and such - perfect! I already knew that the suit functions as an armor figuratively, and now - literally; makes me feel protected from all the attention from hot art chicks that I'd otherwise get :lmao:. Other benefits include attracting girls with daddy issues who want you to spank them :p.

Lol what's subtle about having sleeves that are about 3 inches too short for your arms?

Where is the silent heroism of the lonely male? Where are the Clint Eastwoods, the Steve McQueens, the Robert Mitchums of this world?

They have been replaced with the college fratboy, wannabe gangsta, and 'sensitive artistic guy' types. Men who are self sufficient, don't like complain or talk about their feelings , and don't run their mouths uncontrollably are not in vogue these days. You can blame the growing feminization of our society for this phenomenon.

Shes into ugly girly guys with bad hair

Dont judge

What did you think of him in Sex Lies and Videotape?

That I preferred him in Secretary! :p:laugh:

No offense ladies but Spader is a sleazeball which drops his attractiveness, to below average.

Long as I dress like my handsome friend North, I'll be OK.

I love how this thread is filled with guys who claim to admire the strong, silent type, but are simultaneously bitching about the feminization of society.

I know plenty of guys who know how to shut up and do a push up.

I used to feel the same way as you do but I've sort of reformed my opinion on this. If you consider that artistic people are particularly visually sensitive, it makes sense that they want to have fun with their clothing and hone a style that they find visually appealing and expressive of their personalities.

If a guy dresses with a nice style, I know immediately that he has some degree of taste and that we share a common aesthetic.

This is different from a guy who sprays on a tan, gels his hair and wears tacky Armani outfits because he thinks this is what women find attractive.

I'm talking about somebody who dresses with a sophisticated eye.

Also, as I wrote earlier I'm more likely to notice a guy who expresses his personality in his clothing than a guy with more style. Because there's a fairly high accurate success rate, I'll make certain assumptions about the personalities of both. I don't have the time to get to know every single guy who crosses my path.
