shadowplay Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 After I read the okcupid survey research somebody posted I got a bit curious and signed up for an account. From what I can make out the site seems to appeal to a younger, more educated crowd. Has anybody had success with this site? Care to share some stories? I've already started filling out my profile and answering a bunch of questions. So far the average guys seem a bit geeky and out of shape (even for me), but there are some good ones in there. A few interesting tidbits: One of my top matches is a guy I knew at an internship two summers ago whom I absolutely loathed! (the feeling seemed to be mutual) Apparently these are my best matches by country Your Best Countries Israel — 75.4 Germany — 74.2 United Kingdom — 73.8 Austria — 73.8 Switzerland — 73.6 And my worst Your Worst Countries Pakistan — 45.2 Saudi Arabia — 48.3 Kenya — 49.9 Egypt — 52.0 Malaysia — 53.5 Mostly unsurprising results, but I had no idea I was a closeted Zionist! I have to admit the im feature kind of scares me. I've already been imed by a bunch of guys -- some of them pretty attractive -- but I hate iming with strangers. So I've actually blocked a number of people. I wish guys would just write messages if they were interested.
Author shadowplay Posted November 29, 2009 Author Posted November 29, 2009 What happened with Art Guy I told him that I wouldn't be back in town until next week and I would give hima call when I am, so hopefully we'll have coffee in a few days.
kiss_andmakeup Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I was on there about a year and a half ago. Met my current boyfriend and we've been together ever since. It's the first time I'm dating someone that I'd actually consider marrying. We are a pretty good match. I went on a couple other dates while on the site and they were all eligible contenders. I thought it was fun, well-managed, good features, easy to use, etc.
pandagirl Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I started using OK Cupid a couple months ago and I have to say -- while I haven't met anyone in person yet -- that I have exchanged emails with a lot of interesting guys. OK Cupid doesn't take itself serious and is a fun site to browse around on! Previously, I belonged to a dating site called Nerve, that pulls in the personal ads from The Onion and Salon.com, also. Had little to no success with that site.
tigressA Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 I had registered to the site months ago just because there was an interesting quiz I wanted to take, but I saw this thread and decided to actually fill out my profile. I've already gotten a number of messages and IMs, some from weird older guys, but mostly from pretty solid-looking ones. This is my first time venturing online to meet people. I like the site so far; it's fun.

dudet Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 i recently signed up. so far not a good sign. doesn't seem to be many matches on this site. whats new though. the good thing is its free to communicate
justforfun Posted November 29, 2009 Posted November 29, 2009 (edited) I like it. It's kind of fun. The tests are silly but they're fun too. I've met three people from there. Liked all of them and still friends. Just not dating material. (well I did date one of them for a while). Enjoy (and I think you can switch of the IM...the people who IM'ed me before exchanging messages were weirdos!) Edited November 29, 2009 by a LoveShack.org Moderator
stepka Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I was on it for awhile and really enjoyed the format and the screening questions. It seemed like I got a lot of emails and IMs from much younger guys--like 20 years younger. The only complaint I have is that there's not a huge pool of potential dates, like on some of the bigger sites, but that seems to be changing as word gets out. When I get ready to date again, I'll go back to it, but I'm not really interested in cougaring.
kizik Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 OkCupid is a lot of fun. Met a lot of cool girls on there.
justforfun Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 OkCupid is a lot of fun. Met a lot of cool girls on there. Is that dating code for 'those okc girls really put out?'
Pizzaman81 Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Is that dating code for 'those okc girls really put out?' YES they do! I found my ex on OkCupid a year ago! Trying it again now.
tigressA Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Hah, I got a message last night from a guy who actually goes to my school! We exchanged SNs and we IMed for a bit earlier. He's cute...I don't remember ever seeing him, but he's in a major that has all their classes in a building separate from the main campus...maybe something will happen there.
Sith Apprentice Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I made an account on there once, but the entire site looked juvenile to me. There was one section where you could see if you had stalkers or some stupid crap. The site looked like an attention whores dream.

Not meaning to sound rude, but judging by your picture I wouldn't be surprised that was the case for you.
Sith Apprentice Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I pull mega ass on match.com. I'm currently updating my database with my newest women, but the mod's deleted it.

kizik Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Is that dating code for 'those okc girls really put out?' No, it means "they have interesting personalities and I enjoyed spending time with them" Oh, and I f*cked all of them.
justforfun Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 No, it means "they have interesting personalities and I enjoyed spending time with them" Oh, and I f*cked all of them. Ha! No flies on me, eh matey?
kizik Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 Ha! No flies on me, eh matey? I do not know what that means, but you are from the midwest, so I give you a pass.
justforfun Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I do not know what that means, but you are from the midwest, so I give you a pass. LOL..I'm from England. I just live in the Mid West. It means I'm so quick/fast that flies don't get chance to set down on me.
D-Jam Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 (edited) I signed up a year before I met my GF...but never really did more than answer survey questions. I didn't meet my GF there. Edited November 30, 2009 by D-Jam
justforfun Posted November 30, 2009 Posted November 30, 2009 I pull mega ass on match.com. I'm currently updating my database with my newest women, but the mod's deleted it. LOL! So that's why all these women aren't responding to these 'carefully crafted' emails that they are always whining about. The women are too busy to reply because they're humping you!
a_Lien34 Posted December 1, 2009 Posted December 1, 2009 Been on two dates with person I met on there. I like it because you get a preview of what you're getting into. Much better than The Bar Scene.
