Ok so I've been chatting to this guy for a month (met on the internet) and have been on 4 dates with him in the past week. It's his birthday on Monday, do I get him a present? Or do I just call and wish him happy birthday?

Present

Get him something small to show you care

Maybe hot sex if you haven't already. It would make a nice BDay and 4 dates in a week sounds like you guys are into each other. Great story to have years later.

Ummm yeah I wouldn't buy him a present based just on the info you gave.

I would call him to wish him a happy birthday, and maybe take him out to dinner or something like that. Go out and buy him a drink.

If I did buy him something it would be something very small.

Other people in the dating world (so I'm finding out here on LS) seem to move a LOT faster than I do, however.

There are ways of making it worth his while. I have enough watches and ties and s**t.

It isnt the size of the present

She has to get him something

Its like a girl opening the car door when its raining out (pre auto unlock) after you walked to open the door for her first.

It says something about the person, and definitely makes me look at them with more regard.

Anyway, sex aside if you go with a gift, whicH I would, it doesn't have to be anything big. A shirt if you know his taste, a book, etc. If you get nothing at all, it would kind of say to me, eh, falling for you - not so much.

Taking him out to a nice dinner is a good alternate if logistically feasible, and if he hasn't already told his friends they can all hang out on the bday.
