Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Some do it for the ego boost. Some people just aren't 100% sure of themselves yet. Most are just lonely. You get all sorts. It sucks to be strung along though. Well it hasn't been weeks of conversation. He was a non paying member, and we did the 'winking' thing back and forth. All of a sudden I got an email from him Friday. Yesterday I asked him out for coffee and bam, I got 'turned down'.
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I know, I really don't understand the big deal actually-it was only 2 months. According to a self-book I'm reading (I know I'm the self help market!) you should only mourn a relationship for the percentage of time you were together. Something like 2 months-a week or something very little. I'll dig it out
Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 I sensed bitterness. I guess she was having mixed feelings well before she brought it up, before he moved to be closer, then he moved, and a week later she broke it off. That was three weeks ago. Never date your friends? A lesson learned?
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Oh yes. Dating friends is a big no no. It only leads to trouble.

It sucks to be strung along though. which is why I refuse to do the online thing again... but I have a confession... back when I did do it, I was just as guilty of some of those behaviors too... I'm waaaay happier now doing my own thing and meeting people IRL.... no dates (yet!) but when I do meet someone, the chances of it being "honest" and "true" are much greater... I'm going for quality over quantity now... or something like that!

Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Oh yes. Dating friends is a big no no. It only leads to trouble. It screams drama. Like "Hey... lets put a dent in our friendship and date. Then it wont work out, and we can be all weird about it later on."
tkgirl Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Shouldn't you be surfing young lady I think guys will approach in real life for the same reasons though. I'm actually heading out right now... big swell today, woo hoo! and maybe I'll meet a cute surfer or two... as for dating sites vs. IRL... yep, there's no guarantees but I think you can get a better "feel" for someone when you actually meet them face to face. I wouldn't trade my experiences I've had from being on a dating site (or two!) for anything, I've learned a lot and all that... I've also learned dating sites are not for me is all... now time for me to catch a wave!
tkgirl Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It screams drama. Like "Hey... lets put a dent in our friendship and date. Then it wont work out, and we can be all weird about it later on." or there's the good ol' "the dating thing didn't work out, so let's be friends instead" weirdness... I'm not sure what is worse!
Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 or there's the good ol' "the dating thing didn't work out, so let's be friends instead" weirdness... I'm not sure what is worse! Hmmm I think the lets date even though we've been friends for many years is worse.
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 It's sort of like asking for drama and confrontation-oh hey, we've been friends for years, do you want to ruin it by going to bed with me? Then we can be weird about it later on and never be able to be in the same room?

Then we can be weird about it later on and never be able to be in the same room? And how strange would it be when having a new gf, but having a best friend that you were friends with, then got with, then broke up with. Like .. "Hey meet my ex/best friend"
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I know, that's like asking for a jealous partner! 'oh no you don't go spending time with that ex!' 'but she's my friend' 'no, she's your ex bed friend'

harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Oh yes! I can see him now, Jerry Springer, ready to 'spring' on that storyline (oh god poor pun from me). Must be rubbing his hands in glee at the scenario. No one wants to get messed up in that sitch.

Bejita463 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 A Jerry Springer line was just crossed Only if someone screams "I ain't the baby-daddy" and then gets a chair thrown at them.
Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Only if someone screams "I ain't the baby-daddy" and then gets a chair thrown at them. I asked if there were kids! He said no!
Bejita463 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 I asked if there were kids! He said no! Of course he said that! He ain't no baby-daddy!
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Oh yes, standing in between, waiting for the first punch thrown, or chair as so often happens. lol.
Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 Of course he said that! He ain't no baby-daddy! Ugh... maybe the girl is pregnant now, and she doesn't know if it's his or the new guys.
Bejita463 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Ugh... maybe the girl is pregnant now, and she doesn't know if it's his or the new guys. When it doubt, it's her uncle's cousin's baby.
Author dreamergrl Posted November 9, 2009 Author Posted November 9, 2009 When it doubt, it's her uncle's cousin's baby. Maybe it's the brother's sister's boyfriend's best friend's baby?
Bejita463 Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Maybe it's the brother's sister's boyfriend's best friend's baby? Now we're talkin'! JERRY! JERRY! JERRY!
harmfulsweetz Posted November 9, 2009 Posted November 9, 2009 Actually, I always thought it was the brothers! Oh sick mind I have. But I watch the British version of Jerry Springer, Jeremy Kyle, and god, I swear there's incest going on....
