I mean the relationship probably will fail miserably, but I don't think it's wrong. 17-year-old boys are about as depraved as you can get. I don't think people would react the same way if the roles were reversed: a 28-year-old man dating a girl of 17 despite the fact that a girl of that age is probably more innocent and impressionable. I don't know what the laws are in your state/country but I think sex with a person under 18 of either sex is technically statutory rape... NOW, I sincerely doubt he would feel raped, it's more a law to cover minors that are in situations when the adult uses his/her impressionability to get sex which does not seem to be your case. However an overzealous parent could make your life a living hell even if the sex was consensual, so just wait until his 18th birthday just to be on the safe side. Link to post Share on other sites

It would be wise to find out what the laws are where you live before you dive head first into a romantic relationship with this guy. Your situation is neither right nor wrong. You didn't provide a lot of information. For instance, is this simply an intense crush on your part or are you both infatuated with each other? To me, there is a big difference between someone who is 17 and 28, and someone who is 28 and 40. This guy is at a very difference place emotionally and mentally. There is a lot of potential for a dysfunctional relationship. I can't say that such a relationship is wrong, but I believe it's extremely unrealistic. A simple fling is one thing, but you're talking about love. I would try to look inside and figure out why you want to be with this person, and what you hope to get out of it. vince1128 Posted September 2, 2008 Share Posted September 2, 2008 this reminds me of the show weeds if any of you watch it.. but anyways, i dont think hooking up is wrong but falling in love is rediculous..if it lasted think how weird that would be, you'd be 50 and he'd still be in his 30's. plus, a 17 does not know what love is, and could not stay with one older person throughout the best years of his life. but when i was 17 i probably wouldve hooked up with a hott 28 year old. its just weird to think about though, the whole situation Link to post Share on other sites

So- depends on the country- province, state, etc. If it's illegal where you are- you are in the wrong... if it's not- then you are in the clear. I don't think we're debating society as a whole or making legislation here. she asked if she should see the guy because she's in love with him.
