a Boss that takes advantage

I work for a small co. it's family owned, but not my family.

been here 10 years.

Long Story Short...

I'm ready to move on now, i've realized I just got comfortable

here and never really went after a job in a field I really enjoy. I just

stayed here and did things outside of work (music, art, video production)

We just got hit with a cut in pay and told No Bonuses this year. The Co. is

not doing so great so, they need to cut some pay. So i'm in big trouble

because I have bills, rent a wife and child to support and I'm barely getting

by as it is.

I've had a carrot dangled in my face by the boss here this week.

Not necessarily promising more Pay, but a chance to move up to a different

position. We here a lot of that. a lot of "let's see how it goes and if you

show effort, then maybe we'll talk raise...maybe". Then the Boss never says

anything about it after you've done a lot more. Never a "If you do X amount of

work we'll pay you X amount of dollars more". We all do a lot here and

most of the time, if we offer to do something, management totally takes

advantage. They're REALLY cheap and stingy here.

Part of me is falling into the scared, worried, Should-I-Stay-Here? kinda

mode because at least i'm getting a paycheck in these hard economic times.

I'm afraid.

But I REALLY want to get out of here and even though I don't have a

degree, I really want to find something in a field i enjoy.

I don't know what to do. I may need to move soon for a lower rent. i got

a lot of things to figure out.

Attainment : Please don't solicit business on our site !

Dennis, My friend, you are in one of the states hardest hit by the economy. Unless you are in a specialized field, I am warning you that it will be nearly impossible to get ANY job, let alone a fufilling one !

Start saving your money, and perhaps looking out of state, but don't quit until you have something else lined up !!

It's scary out there ! My nephew went for a dishwashing job and they had a hundred cadidates, McDonalds won't even give OUT applications anymore.

This is " snowbird" season and even the restaurants aren't hiring !

Good luck to you !!!

i've been sending out TONS of resumes with no answers of any kind.

it's like sending them into a black hole. it's really tough. I know staying here I at least have a job and won't get laid off anytime soon but I'm going to be in trouble if I don't find something else. I've already got a 2nd job on the weekends for extra income. I'm not able to spend the weekend with my wife and child anymore but I gotta keep the $ coming

in so we don't get into trouble.

it's hard, it doesn't leave much time to try anything else.
