Idiot Pastor Mike, wants to put Atheists on a National Registry

What a disgusting, horrible man.

Here is what I commented on the article,

Surely this idiot realises, that his behaviour, and other religious people's behaviour which is hateful like his, will only make religion look a lot more unattractive to the non religious, and therefore will make it way way less likely for atheists/agnostics/the non religious, to become religious, or for them to join his religion.

Evey time I hear about stories like this, it just proves to me, and reminds me more and more, of just how disgusting, hateful, wicked, and poisionus religion really is.

Just goes to show that a lot (not all), but a lot of religous people really aren't that bright at all.

Not sure what part you take offense to.

The utter ignorance of his religious theology or the Atheist Registry.

I'd put my name proudly on that list as long as it separated

me from all the "sheep".:bunny:

Bleh. If the religious used it as a conversion hit list for harassing people who don't worship their deity, I'd want that crap shut down. This kind of garbage shouldn't be tolerated as much as it is. It's a wonder people like these aren't seen by the entirely of society as the babbling morons they are and locked up for preaching hate.

Then again, freedom of speech and all that. If the KKK can go out and peddle death and destruction to those who are different and not get thrown in a loony bin, so can he.

( He wants to compare my stance on religion to the KKK? I can do the same for him. )

Wow...history repeats itself with the Hitler mentality. Hitler had the Jews register and then took them out....Same thing...different group. Gotta makes one wonder if as Humans we regress instead of evolving...

As another poster said, we really cant take stupidity seriously....other then they are seriously ignorant in such a cause...

What an insecure little man. He's so threatened by people that don't share his worldview that he feels the need to put up a registry? It's like watching a toddler have a temper tantrum because he/she isn't getting their way.

Yes, lists and registries (same thing different names) are dangerous things when it comes to hot topics such as religious preference and abortion and such. At least I think so. This man's motives are suspect.

I hope this man doesn't have children.

Even more so, I hope none of the children are atheists.

"Why do this, what's the purpose?" Duhhh, Mr. Atheist for the same purpose many States put the names and photos of convicted sex offenders and other ex-felons on the I-Net - to INFORM the public!

The dude is making it sound as if atheists have done something criminal against the community. I mean, c'mon, the guy is putting atheists next to sex offenders! How is this not ignorant?

I don't see this as a good thing. Sounds like it would only lead to harassment.

Well, at one time atheists were considered criminals.

But then, America and the rest of the world (barring third world countries) woke up and became sane.

I am a Christian, who has atheist friends. If someone asked me to put them on a registry, Christian or not, they would receive a punch in the face. All in the name of Jesus and everything sane.

I don't know much about this guy- whether or not he has any power or holds any clout. But say this registry was mandated- and say I was on that list. Could that information be used against me? What if I applied for a job and the person in charge of the hiring was a devout christian and decided not to hire me because my name was on some "list".

I can't imagine something like this being passed- it would go against too many privacy laws.

Atheists aren't the threat, it's the zealots like this lunatic that should be on a list.

Yes, it could be "used against you" in the example you gave. But essentially it would be one of those things that's almost impossible to prove unless he comes right out and says it.

I watched a documentary not too long ago that talked about hiring practices based on names. Like someone with a "traditionally black" name has a 30% less chance of even getting interviewed then someone that has a typically "white name".

It's unfortunate but discrimination is still alive and well in the world.

What region was this documentary scruitinizing?

Evey time I hear about stories like this, it just proves to me, and reminds me more and more, of just how disgusting, hateful, wicked, and poisionus religion really is.

It's not always religion that is at fault. Often it's the people hiding behind the banner called religion and using the scriptures for their own malicious purposes that are at fault.

Jesus never preached violence and hatred. Can't say the same for his old man though!

A lot of what is in the old testament is just pure hatred, misery and unhappiness.

I remember being forced to go to church when I was a child and our Minister didn't sermon much from the old testament.

Jesus could be pretty harsh as well when people didn't "get" his parables, he was sure prone to having his temper tantrums.

However, his old man sure could be mean at whim. Asking Abraham to slaughter his own son to test his faith? Then at the moment of truth, he turns around and says "just kidding- okay, you proved your loyalty to me- here's a ram to kill instead". Animal sacrifice? Aren't they all supposed to be god's creatures? What did that poor ram do to deserve it's random slaughter? What kind of loving/omnipotent being would ask such a thing of his followers? That's what always struck me when my mother was trying to force religion down my throat- that this "god" she loved didn't seem to be a very nice guy.

I remember crying in Sunday school that day because God liked killing animals:mad:. I never liked church, or believed in anything . My dad had to console me that day because we had a dog and I was terrified "this god" was going to make a member of my family kill our beloved Saint Bernard.

Hey, also, D-Lish. I just wanna say i am so happy to be free from the chains known as Christianity. I was in the church and a believer for a number of years. It was hell. I have never met so many back stabbers and gossipers in my life. OTOH, I met some truly wonderful people. But overall, i am happier away from the church. I have more love for the world knowing there is something more real and beyond what the bible tries to tell us is the truth. The world is so much older than any religion.

I found the same thing in my parent's church- there was so much infighting going on, and the Minister himself had an affair with the organist and left his wife for her.

I actually got kicked out of Sunday school for asking too many questions, lol.

When my brother and I got to the age of 12 and 9, my mom would make us get up and get ready for church- we'd get out to the car and my brother and I would just chant "one...two..THREE, GO" and then take off into the back farmer fields behind our house.:p Eventually she got tired of making us go. Problem solved:rolleyes:.

lol D-Lish!

I believe Jesus did exist. But he was just another man with a following. Similar to the Dalai Lama perhaps. Amazing how these people get perpetuated throughout the ages and right through to present time!

Certainly the infrastructure mentioned in the bible of the time of Jesus is in place. One can go visit it today. But again, just another man........

But I love the earth so much more now knowing that something truly natural took place here and that we had dinosaurs and billions of years of compressing plant life under enormous pressure and heat to create crude oil. Not that I am a fan of oil. But the bible just doesn't explain the billions of years it took for this process to take place.

Heck, we are living from the way the world was billions of years ago. It must had been a wonderful place at that time, minus being chased by the giant dinos, et al....

Did anyone notice his tattoos? Not to discriminate against tattooed folks at all, but he sounds to me like one of those ex-convicts who suddenly decide to accept Jesus and become pastors. :D He is probably himself on the list of sex offenders - placed there by an atheist prosecutor! Which state is he in? I bet he has an extensive criminal record! ;)

As far as his "proposed law" goes... you guys ever heard of a thing called US Constitution? If you EVER thought for a second that someone would repeal the First Amendment, you should be embarassed and not tell anyone of your thought! :p Besides, discrimination based on religion (or lack thereof) is prohibited by federal and state statutes.

I laughed, actually. I can't take stupid seriously.
Hahah! :D Unfortunately, stupid and evil people do take "stupid" seriously.

It's not always religion that is at fault. Often it's the people hiding behind the banner called religion and using the scriptures for their own malicious purposes that are at fault.
Exactly! But the power those creeps assume under the pretext of religion is what feeds their actions. Don't forget, Charles Manson "talked with God and God told him to murder."
