Would like to know opinions on breast augmentation surgery a.k.a. boob job ? I've entertained the thought most of my adult life. Surprisingly, not for a man. I don't really get laid, so that's never been a problem.

I'm kind of worried about the unnecessary risk that comes with all elective surgeries, but more worried risk of also looking shallow? Also, I have heard from some men that while they are aesthetically pleasing particularly under clothes, they tend to have less bounce and when you squeeze them they feel overfilled water balloons. That sounds fascinating and scary at the same time.

Still, part of me wants them. It's the product of being a 90s porn kid. I remember the first porn I saw was this girl with bolt ons, and thinking 'I want that' Of course I wouldn't do that now. I'd want to err on the side of natural. But I am pretty tall and thin and think I'd look more porportional with a cup size or 2 larger.

What are your thoughts on boob jobs?

I have one. If you go silicone under the muscle, they won't look like balloons. I dated a couple of guys who were shocked to find out; they are that 'real'.

The first 24 hours is pretty painful if you go under muscle. I was back at work in a week.

If you want it for yourself, go for it. I did. The risks are the same as with almost any other surgery. Research your plastic surgeon and operating facility to death. Don't do a Joan Rivers.

Pm me if you want more personal info. Good luck!

ETA: I had it done 16 years ago. No problems yet, knock on wood.

You asked if others will think you're shallow. I don't know how others could tell if you've had one or not. I don't really notice a woman's chest size unless it would be a huge difference in size. Also, since lots of people choose to wear a padded bra if I did happen to notice someone looking larger I wouldn't immediately suspect a boob job.

I say if you've always wanted one, go for it!

It's your body, so you should do what you want to do. But make sure you educate yourself on the risks and pick a reputable surgeon (no traveling to developing countries for cheap ones!!).

Personally it's not something I've ever wanted to do, and I have Asian boobs. I guess I'm just not a fan of surgery that serves a purely aesthetic reason.

I work in the medical field and I've heard my share of horror stories. Everything from contractures, infections, undetected breast cancer due to implants, etc.

In the long run they will not make you feel more confident about yourself. You have to do that another way like counseling. Compare yourself to yourself.

Personally, I'd rather go on two very nice vacations. Oh, and many women have to get replacement boobs after a number of years. So it may not be a one and done surgery. Childbirth, age, etc. also change the way your implants looks. I've seen lots and lots of breasts during my life due to my job.

I thought very strongly about doing it in my mid-twenties because I have very small breasts. However, it didn't affect dating one bit. And padded bras made wearing shirts easier. And now padded bathing suits. :)

The ones I've seen that are obviously fake nauseated me. There are a lot more guys who don't care how natrural they look and are happy just to have bigger breasts in front of them even if the nipples have been redirected skyward.

I don't mind a nice rack, but I've always been happy with A or B cups on thinner women. I've always been more of an ass man :D

I would seriously look at your reasons for getting them. How tall are you? What cup size are you now?

I'm all for plastic surgery once they make it look like you didn't get plastic surgery.

Yes Submart I am really worried about that stuff but nipp... redirected inward......? .does that really happen....I am 5'6 and b cup I would like large c or D cup . I guess it's a fine size I just always wanted bigger but I'm scared of them looking fake too. That's always been what stops me

If you are active consider the repercussions....

Personally I love my tiny tits (A/B cup) they never cause me any discomfort, I can run without a bra (and horse back ride comfortably), I have zero sag, I can sleep comfortably in any position, it's easy to fit clothes, if I want "more" I can wear a padded bra, breast exams are some simple fondling (no mamagram smashing).

Very happy that I learned to accept my body, and men tell me they like my tiny tit's and cute little nipples

My sister got an under muscle boob job. The pain she was in post surgery scared me straight, no F'ing way would I volunteer for that.... And she has already had a re-do.

That's just it. You don't know how your body going to respond even if you are in perfect health otherwise. Surgery in and of itself is risky. There are many people who have no issues. However, many have issues immediately or down the road. Is the risk worth it?

Examine the reasons you want to get this done. Most women don't naturally have big boobs. Period. We have media and society to thank for implying women should have big boobs. And their boobs.

Besides, what if you get them and think they look fake? And I can always tell a fake pair when the bra is removed. I've never touched anyone's boobs fake or otherwise, but rumor has it that they (fake boobs) are hard.

Think of the practicalities.

Mine are real. And an E cup. I cannot find clothes which fit properly and am largely limited to either stretch fabrics or making my own. I'd drops sizes tomorrow if I had the choice.

I have a question, do BJs affect lactation, i.e. can a woman still breast feed after surgery?

I don't know the answer to this question, but it's definitely something that should be looked into if you think you might want to breastfeed some day! In my humble (and admittedly naturally large breasted) opinion, a boob job would not be worth losing the ability to bond with a baby that way. (And, also, if you are considering being a mom someday and breastfeeding, save the boob job until after all that because many women experience a decrease in size).

I have a few friends with boob jobs and none of them look fake. They all got them because they were VERY flat chested and felt self conscious, or in one case, one of hers never developed during puberty so she only has one to even it out. If they are proportional to your body, I don't think you can tell just by looking.

Large breasts are overrated, though. Especially in hot weather. I'd much rather have smaller breasts.

My sister was able to breast feed post boob job.

But it ruined how they looked.

So - she got another boob job (luckily her husband is loaded and can afford these elective surgeries)

Hi Cookiesandough,

I would personally use caution around any form of surgery, particularly elective surgery. Once you cut open your body and change things, it will never be the same. Scarred tissue gets itchy etc.

The other thought is i am not sure why people want to get boob jobs? I know it is individual choice etc. i also know that in some cultures or sub cultures (sometimes it can even vary with the city you live in), there is a competitive streak among women and they see a bigger bust as increased attractiveness. It is like a form of social conditioning. And, as one poster mentioned, the $!

Then there are medical reasons, eg, your boobs are too big and need to ge reduced.

Either way, it's your body and your decision. Am curious to know why you'd like a boob job?

I have a friend who had a reduction. I tried to talk her out of it. I was surprised at how different she looked and how much better she said she felt.

I no longer try to give women advice about their breasts. They're yours. Do what you want with them.

Truthfully, I've been just as happy with big or small.

I have a very strong point against any elective surgery: I'll explain to you why and you make your choice.

You don't know the state of your body (i.e. genetic conditions) before you alter it in some way. In my case I was doing something very simple: no surgeries, just taking birth control prescription. Well, turned that I have a mutation that increases the risk of blood clotting, I got clots in my lungs and nearly died. Fun.

Now, imagine someone like me going through elective surgery without knowing about the genetic condition. ANY surgery increases the risk of clotting disorder outbreak, the mutation increases it further, so likely result will be: pulmonary embolism (30% resulting in death). My mutation is not rare: 1 in 50 caucasian people have it. There are many others, equally if not more scary.

Well...... if this risk can be avoided with a simpler solution (VS add two sizes bra does the job if that's your goal) - WTH take the risk? If you're talking about deformity - I'm all for plastic surgery, but to add one two cup sizes... I'd not see that as a measured/justified risk.

Also, how much you weight? If you're on the lowerish end of normal BMI trust me you'd 'grow' in the boob area as you age and get chunkier (haha unless you avoid the latter but 99% of people get chunkier with age, even if keeping exactly the same weight or a bit lower because muscle mas and bone density decrease). Just hit 30 and you'll see the magic of aging...

Discovering it's fake boobs is like discovering it's fake diamond. I prefer small natural boobs to fake ones. Fake boobs is a big no no for me. Any plastic surgery is a turn off for me.

It really is a personal choice and its your body.....im sure you will make the decision that makes you happy....plenty of research is my suggestion...I dont think its shallow to get cosmetic surgery...i think its shallow to get multiple cosmetic surgeries..........deb

Thank you all! I decided to go with it. I got a great doctor he's done a couple friends (whose boobies I have felt lol) and they are beautiful so I'm confident in his skill. He said I'm a good candidate and I told him I want natural and proportional I'm flirting with 400cc or 425cc under muscle but they always say between the two go larger? I put down my downpayment and I'm having them done on the 13th of oct!!!! Btw Midwest did you get my pm

Hi Cookiesandough,

Either way, it's your body and your decision. Am curious to know why you'd like a boob job?

Yikes. I never heard of it being itchy. Was that your experience? :(

I have always wanted larger breasts. I am straight but when I watch porn it's always girl with larger perky breasts + guy. Also because I am a taller chic I feel more proportional?

You do you but imo you're a knock out without them.

No homo :)

You are so sweet  and a knockout too    (no homo)

Adorbs Bumble bee btw

If you spend good money and get it done under the muscle, maybe they will turn out excellent. I used to date a girl that had this done and her boobs were spectacular. She never wore a bra and just walked around with perfect, non-saggy, perky boobs all the time. Very sexy.

The most attractive girl I have ever been with was rocking a B cup and she was 5'8, even taller than you. When I saw her, the last thing I was thinking was that I wished she had a D cup. It just doesn't work that way. I'd take a natural woman with an A or B cup any day over fake boobs.

Thank you! Yes the consensus is guys don't like them...but the girl you dated with fake boobs.. when you squeezed them, how'd they feel in comparison? I really couldn't tell. I have a good amount of breast tissue he measured me at a B cup

I forgot to add, yes, he says you breastfeed just fine with BA. The dr I go to only does silicone (mentor) and lifetime warrantee on them

Thank you for the information and well wishes enigma32. You are very cool too. I enjoy your perspective on things. I get what you are saying about insecurity etc: I try to be real and I'm comfortable with my body. I have no shame in it. I think if I just do this and no lip injectionS and Botox and all that (no offense to anyone who has done this, I'm sure you look beauty) It will be ok. I don't think it's a slippery slope to me because I'm not looking for perfection, just bigger knockers.

About the unnatural look, I agree with you and it's inevitable. I've had friends with naturally large boobs, and even at 18 there is just some sloping. Mainly because it not just muscle but it's soft/fatty tissue too and they don't sprout out suddenly. Inplants will be firmer not sag esp before they 'drop'.. but they might get there eventually (hopefully) I don't know. but I did ask the dr and he's into the natural look thankfully. He doesn't even do the super big ones. I'll emphasize I want natural again though

Anyway, thanks again!!

I'm late to this thread as it sounds like you've already made up your mind. Personally I would recommend not doing it at this stage of your life, because your breasts will still change over time, especially if you have kids.

I understand it's really important to you personally and I think plastic surgery can be worthwhile in some cases when that is the case. But also I'm dumbfounded on why someone so attractive would want to change anything about themselves.
