Just seeing if anyone here has had any experience with testoterone boosters...the Cellucor rep at GNC yesterday attacked me with a sales pitch, and I just wanted to get some other opinions...

I've done the real thing and the so-called "precursors". I can only say that the real thing works. ZMA does seem to help me sleep and heal better however.

And I assume it's only prescribed if "legitimately" needed for clinically low T-levels...?

Yes. You can't get it from a reputable doctor if your testosterone is not lacking. As I said in the other thread however, one should get tested for two testosterone numbers--"overall" and "free". Free testosterone levels are important but can be obscured by an overall reading which is in the normal range. If one has low free testosterone, the zest for things can ebb. But looking at your avatar photo I don't see the word "ebb". :p

If you want to expand your horizons, PM me. No I am not selling something, I will just point you to the right direction. Some legal, some gray, some not, but you tell me what you are looking to accomplish.

I know a man who said when he started doing high intensity cardio on a treadmill, he lost fifteen pounds by changing nothing else. He wasn't really overweight, just a bit soft. He regularly worked out with weights and ate very cleanly. He said he wound up with rock hard erections and he was 63. I know generally the less fat you have the higher your testosterone levels are.

Antiaging specialists will prescribe testosterone if you are over forty since most men have lower levels at that age, but if you are under thirty, not likely.

The legal stuff is pretty much garbage. I like the effects of ZMA as well but I'm not sure it was ever doing anything test wise. People take real steroids for a reason, you're not gonna get enough of an effect from anything on a shelf in GNC. If it was that effective, it would get taken off shelves pretty quickly.

No, I didn't. This is merely a supplement used to increase the test production in people with normal T-levels.

legal test boosters are complete bullsh*t

I used to work at GNC and those products are nonsense. Only ones that work are illegal

Yea, I had a feeling this might be the case. Thanks.

Try to stay away from the juice if you can. Some of the downsides:

1. Bitch tits.... ugh.

2. Mood swings.... (but for some pushover guys this could actually be a positive ;-)

3. Ligament damage as your muscle growth out paces your connective tissue growth.

and the REAL reason

4. It's sooooo temporary.

Why bulk up just to stop juicing and lose it all again? It's psycologically damaging to "shrink" and feel weak compared to your old juced self. I had a buddy that just kept juicing because he hated himself when he was off the stuff.

All interesting input here on this thread, especially your comments Fit Chick, that is really interesting. I know having body fat increases estrogen production in men, and lowers sex drive, or at least I believe I read something along those lines. I seem to recall Zinc and Selenium being very important for men as well. That may have been for sperm production, not necessarily testosterone.

I had a friend who took steroids in his 20's, he was hooked. Oh, the rages he would have. I had to go to his house to help calm him down to help his girlfriend with the situation. He would just walk around growling and grunting like a cave man, especially when he'd get drunk. He was all muscle, no fat. The rage moods he would get in seemed totally beyond his control, but they would subside. He's dead now, died racing on his crotch rocket years ago after drinking tequila. Bottom line, after seeing the effect of steroids on his moods, and how he would turn into a neanderthal man, I was not a fan. Then again, Shannon probably took 2 -3 times (or more) the amount anyone else would dare take, that was just his personality, always pushing the limit.

There are natural ways to boost testosterone and sexual energy. If you work out, that's a good start -- it gets the man juices flowing about as well as anything. Being a United States Marine -- a bad ass mother f*cking MARINE (i.e. REAL MAN) ought to help you out and get you off to a good start about there bro. Beyond that, diets help, too. Eat lots of greens, lots of beans, and only some meats. Go veggie -- I'm not kidding. It might seem like a wimpy, earthy diet, but even MMA stars like Jake Shields and the Diaz brothers swear by it, and the more research I've seen seems to validate that eating lots of veggies (esp. tons of greens) gets the man juices flowing. Add some protein through legumes and beans. Thirdly, get sleep. And lastly, get sex -- sex gets the man juices flowing for sure. Boost your 't' naturally.

Don't take the Barry Bonds route -- you'll have bad knees, wrinkly skin, and shriveled nuts...and you might even get an FBI raid to boot. Who wants that?

I would never take Vitamin S...ever. I don't even like the "results" of using. My question originally arose after speaking with a company rep at GNC about the OTC test boosters...I was rather skeptical of their efficacy, and I think the discussion here had confirmed my doubts.

And I subscribe to the Lion-Horse Diet. :)

Whatever you do, don't use Jack D, I understand it is illegal in US, but legal in UK. My son, who is always in the gym as he has to be fit for his job as a Met Policeman, took Jack D once and had a seizure. Ended up in A&E. A lot of what is illegal in some countries is still sold in others.

Don't know about testosterone, my husband has always gone the diet and exercise route without any supplements and while the results aren't as quick, he looks pretty impressive for a 50 yr old.

I was once prescribed HRT that had testosterone in it, gave me facial hair, acne and mood swings. Cannot imagine anyone wanting that just to look better.

Jack3d has never been illegal in the US...the only restriction I'm aware of is that it isn't sold on US military installations...
