What might be wrong with my arm?

Recommended Posts

Hi

I am mid 30s 6 foot about 15 stone, done quite a lot of manual work over the years but nothing excessive I now work in an office job but still do manual work in my spare time and go to the gym.

When I have to lift my right arm up say to scratch my nose or other day to day functions I get quite a sharp straining type pain in the upper part of my arm sort of where my bicep is, I thought maybe a strain but noticed it kind of persisting over the last year or so.

going to gym I have been trying to gently work it out and the funny thing is it seems to hurt more when the only weight on it is my own arm's weight. I also feel it when I move my arms forward say to type or even pull them back from typing I feel this strain. Other things are I cannot quite stretch my arm right to 12 o clock like I can with my left arm without some pain.

I am left handed so my left side may be naturally more built and stronger.

Could it be a slight trauma to tissue or something?

I suggest seeing a doctor.

sounds like your muscle could have healed wrong, or like you said, suffered from some sort of trauma. The only thing I could think of to cure that (I'm no doctor or specialist) would be to watch your diet and make sure you are getting the right nutrition. Potassium contributes a lot to muscle tissue and most people have a deficit. You may also find that taking magnesium and/or BCAA's (Branch Chain Amino Acid's) may help.
