Excellent!!

In addition DOMESTIC ABUSE AND RAPE does NOT only happe to women by men. Men are abused all of the time! Men have the right to seek help too and very well should. You are not weak by stepping forward. Get help.

Thanks, LuvGod, you are ABSOLUTELY RIGHT about this! It happens to men by women. It happens to women by women, and it happens to men by men.

 

If you or anyone else knows about any kind of support group/hotline/services that is sensitive and helpful for men who have been victims of domestic abuse, violence, or rape, PLEASE DO POST IT HERE!!

1800RESPECT

1800 RESPECT is the national family violence and sexual assault counselling service. It is a free, confidential service available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Call 1800 737 732 to speak to a professional counsellor.

 

Family Relationship Advice

The Family Relationship Advice Line provides information and advice on family relationship issues and parenting arrangements after separation. It can also refer callers to local services that can provide assistance. Call 1800 050 321 between 8 am and 8 pm, Monday to Friday, or 10 am to 4 pm on Saturday (local time), except national public holidays.

 

Kids Helpline

Kids Helpline is a free, private and confidential, telephone and online counselling service specifically for young people aged between 5 and 25. Call 1800 55 1800 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 

Lifeline

Lifeline provides crisis support services. Call 131 114 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

 

Mensline Australia

Mensline Australia provides telephone and online support, information and a referral service. They provide counselling support for men to help deal with relationship problems in a practical and effective way. They also provide specialist support to those who use or experience family and domestic violence. Call 1300 789 978.

 

White Ribbon

White Ribbon provide a list of national and state based support organisations which may be of assistance where domestic and family violence is a concern.

The FREEDOM PROGRAMME is FREE UK based programme for victims and survivors of domestic violence (DV).

 

There are plenty of resources available for those not able to access the programme, e.g. if you're outside the UK - an online course, video clips, blogs and an insightful book (Living with the Dominator) about the reality of DV.

WOMEN'S AID:

 

Some more information about Women's aid. They are really helpful and trained experts in the field of domestic violence. The want to help you. If you feel you are being abused physically or emotionally call the Free phone 24 hr National Domestic Violence Helpline on 0808 2000 247.

 

Women's aid can signpost you to other services - e.g. the Freedom Programme (see above), shelters, and legal advice.

I wrote a post and also some reviews on several books on controlling behaviour and emotional abuse for anyone who isn't really quite sure what is going on and whether they are in fact being abused or not.

 

 

It can be a bit of a grey area especially if you haven't experienced it before.
