Awesome. You might also consider sending out a mass email to all registered members that the site is back up and running. It'll also very likely generate new traffic and activity by bringing back some old members who haven't posted in awhile.

Just trying to help you guys succeed as a former website owner who has come to highly value this community.

Welcome back, Love Shack. 8)

It appears from browsing the forum while not logged in that ad and popup blockers aren't currently of value since Paul appears to have shut off all advertisements. I didn't see any. Anyone seeing ads?
I am seeing ads on this page right now.

Yes, further testing did find advertising placement to be in the historical locations. My browser was messing it up.

Paul has added a new moderator, Tristian, formerly moderator ~T who shared William's account, so that process has begun.

So if we got it right, LS was down because Paul was moving and switching servers? Good he did communicate with the mods and a couple posters. Better times ahead.

The IT people can likely put numbers to it but my understanding is Google Cloud Services is less expensive than Softlayer was, a host Paul had used for over a decade. The move was to help get the site out of the red and continue rather than shutting it down completely. I don't know if continue is to retain it or sell it. For now though, it's working, stable, back-end speeds are acceptable and Paul has been very proactive about addressing issues beyond the site outage and move and it appears he's 'back'.

ETA, heard from Paul again this morning and apparently some changes are in the works which IMO, if successful, will improve the member experience and from our perspective reduce our workload, particularly in the spam department. Good news!

So just for clarification, we will be notified if we get a like, but it will not show in the thread?

For now, it appears the 'Like' system is in a static mode. I wouldn't expect it to change short-term. The like counter at the top of the thread works but doesn't list any likes. I would consider the current functionality temporary with comprehensive change coming in a number of areas. Stay tuned!

I really hope they fix the like thing. If they don't, the only way to show you appreciated what someone commented is to quote them which will take up a lot more room.
