Thread rating system

I've noticed a thread I posted in suddenly has a 3 star rating.

It only contains one other reply besides my own.

How do threads get rated?

Just wondering - thanks.

If you look at the drop down menus just above your post, and find the 'rate thread' menu, you will see a selection of possible 'votes', from 'terrible' to 'excellent'. Anyone reading can select a vote and input it. Each member is afforded one vote per thread. AFAIK, one cannot vote for their own thread. Overall, very few threads get votes, and usually the votes are good to excellent.

Edited to add that I ran a test thread and it appears my initial instinct was correct. I could vote for my own thread but it didn't appear to rate it. You can experiment with this thread, since it has no votes, and test for yourself.

Thanks for the question.
