dreamingoftigers Posted August 25, 2011 Share Posted August 25, 2011 I picked up a copy of this month's Reader's Digest on it had an article on Psychopathic behaviour etc. There was mention of a basic test called the PCL-R. I thought, hmm, might be fun to look these things up and see where I land on the scale. Most people will score under 5, the vast majority of those will fall under 2. Anything over 30 is psychopathic. I noticed quite a few categories which fit my husband to a T. Pretty disturbing. But I also recognize the fact that I have a pretty biased opinion being his wife and all, similar to the way many people suspect their ex of being BPD/NPD (until their ex wants to come back that is ) Psychopathic tendencies does not mean that the person is violent or murderous. Apparently 1 in 100 people meet the qualifications. About 1 in 25 people who work for large corporations do as well. This explains sone if the hostile offices we see operated in media. It seems to be a fairly widespread phenomena and I wonder if many of us who have been in some truly awful relationships seem hooked on attracting that same kind of person who is not "emotionally available" because they are simply devoid of many emotions. They use it to deaden any overwhelming feelings that come with intimacy. Viewing sex as something to do with detached objects is far less threatening etc. Emotional bonding is extremely threatening for them. But it would be tough to say whether or not that would be a sign of psychosis possibly. To clarify: both would present as having little to no empathy in a relationship. But it could be because they are overwhelmed by intimacy or because they actually are sociopathic and the porn is just an extension of that. Fun eh? Link to post Share on other sites
