Money can buy anything

1. "In this world, seems like money can buy happiness, healthy, sex, all sorts of luxuries.Agree?"

Your statement is way too broad. Let's take one thing at a time:

Money can buy you:

a) HAPPINESS: Absolutely not. Most of the multi-millionaires I know are miserable. I am personal friends with about 12. Eight of them are 70 or older and they spend the bulk of their time complaining about everything, moaning about what they can't do anymore, upset about their failing eyes or other health aspects and just bxtching in general. They are miserable to be around except on some days when their body chemicals are stabilized to the point they are OK to be around. Even then, they aren't happy...just OK to be around.

Younger millionaires I know battle daily to gain and keep money, like a game. They get upset when they lose money, don't get particularly happy when they make it...and most of them won't spend their money freely to buy the things they want. Some of them do have nice cars and homes and getting those caused them a few days of happiness. Many of them are business people and they have the same problems as me and you, except on a larger scale.

Happiness is the result of conditioning received as children. Happiness is the result of being happy with what one has. If you have billions and are unhappy with that you are worse off than a man who has nothing and who is very happy. If you're happiness plug has been pulled, you aren't going to be happy no matter what amount of money you have.

The trouble with most people is they think money will make them happy. I actually think people are happier dreaming about winning the lottery than in winning it...just as people are happier with the thought of attaining something and the battle to get their rather than the victory itself.

I would say a great deal of the unhappiness of wealthy people is based on loneliness. They never know if friends are sincere or just wanting some of their money. They are constantly vigilant about being taken advantage of and get had anyway. Charities are constantly bombarding them with requests for money. The ones with an ego and desire to have their names on things are an easy mark for non-profits wanting to raise money.

b) HEALTH: Money can buy you health to some degree. If you are able to see a doctor on a regular basis, get good advice on exercise, diet, etc., you can do very well. But with our system of medicine, the same treatment and information is available to rich and poor alike.

The very wealthy are more prone to illness, such as clogging of the arteries, because many of them eat very rich foods high in cholesteral and many do not exercise sufficiently since they have other people to do their work for them. They rarely do their own yardwork or walk to the store.

The very wealthy are not out among the common people as much and therefore do not build up their immune systems as well as those of us who are out among the public on a daily basis.

Wealthy people are often of the mindset that nothing can harm them and they are omnipotent. So they wait until the very last moment, when they are in their worst condition, to see a doctor.

Money can buy you great medical specialists. So when a rare or difficult to cure illness appears, the very rich may be able to fly to distant places to get the very best doctors.

Overall, however, the system has pretty well leveled the playing field where medical treatment is concerned.

I would say intelligence and prudence buys a lot more health than money.

c) SEX: Oh, yes, money can buy you sex from those willing to sell it. It can also get a man into the pants of superficial gold diggers out to get everything they have. But, most people with money use others for their own good. They lead them on with promises of a lavish lifestyle, but once they've gotten their rocks off it's all over. Yes, you can buy sex, not only from hookers but from people who are just impressed by wealth.

My opinion is that the better sex is absolutely free and comes from a person where there is mutual love and respect. Well, I guess it does cost money indirectly in some ways but we gladly spring for that and we don't have to be wealthy.

Love is something that money can't buy.

Money can't even buy sex once a man has reached a certain age. All but a very few women are repulsed by men with sagging, wrinkled skin, no hair, false teeth, etc. and unless they are extremely hard up they usually won't have sex with these.

d) ALL SORTS OF LUXURIES: If you have money, you can decide what you can purchase that you can consider a luxury. However, I think poor people are more thrilled with luxuries like a new VW or a fine meal at a restaurant. Luxuries are defined by each person. Wealthy people are so used to the best of everything, in most cases, that the word and the items lose their meaning.

So, sadly, the very wealthy have really nothing to look forward to because they have everything they want whereas those who are of normal means can look to the future with great anticipation.

I have yet to meet a wealthy person who didn't have respect for even a penny. Even though they can afford all sorts of great things, most drive nice but normal cars and most don't live in mansions. And they don't seem to be any happier than anybody else. But they spend lots of money on advisors and accountants to they can preserve their wealth in anticpation of leaving their money to charity and getting a nice write up in the newspaper upon their death.

This statement is true. I am in the process of buying back my ex.. Since we share many interests we can indulge in our pastimes and spend time together doing things we both enjoy. This brings both of us happiness. Millionaires who are not happy are afraid to spend money or they have no intersets other than money. Once you realise money is the key and not the lock you can buy anything & everything.

it can buy sex....hey it can even buy you an std. it cannot buy hapiness, health or love.

if a guy ever assumed he could buy me, i would be disgusted. i would be disgusted that he would think of me as so shallow, and what i have to offer a guy cannot be bought....it has to be earned.

ever heard the expression, "the best things in life are free"?????

Mrs. Mojo,

Imagine the thing you have dreamed most about doing your entire life, something you would love to do but cannot afford. Think of three, or four of those things. Imagine an attractive man, around your age, well spoken, funny, reasonably intelligent, who drops into your life & makes all those dreams reality.

Take another man you have loved & lost through petty fighting or stresses over daily money matters, add 8 zero's to his bank account.

As for health,

People with money generally outlive poor people. That is a fact.

jack,

i understand what you are telling me, but i totally disagree.

of the 2 serious boyfriends i have had, the one i was deliriously happy with was the guy who had no money to his name. what he gave me, was something you could *never* ever buy. the other boyfriend earned very good money, and i was miserable with him. he did not provide for me emotionally what i need. i was so unhappy.

now, if i were to choose between a rich man with all the qualities i love in a guy, or my deliriously happy ex, i would take the latter without a doubt. that was a relationship excessively rich in emotion.

some people may not agree with me, and that's fine. i'm just not very cynical and have learnt from first-hand experience about "money buying happinees". i have lived both extremes. i learned a very valuable lesson, and i'm glad i did.

as for health.....i can name quite a few very wealthy people who's coke habits not even a good doctor can fix...quite a few wealthy people who burn themselves out from too much drugs, alcohol, unsafe sex, bad diets. i also think that regardless of how wealthy or poor one is, you can sometimes choose a healthy lifestyle (of course, others can't, such as third world countries....but that is getting way off track).

what about love
In this world, seems like money can buy happiness, healthy, sex, all sorts of luxuries.Agree?

as a former barmaid that was subjected to major manipiulation like trip to florida with my daughter, buying me a car a constantly acting like we were in a relationship before i'd even slept with him!! he even invited my family around for a meal!! now 6 months down the line i feel trapped and need to get out. Although my life would no doubt be comfortable for myself and my daughter he could never buy my love...., he also has turned out to be sneaky ie going down my bag, drawers etc and in general a control freak.

From the start i told him that i wasnt ready for a new relationship but after the constant invasion i was silly and weak enough to give in, never again would i be intriged by someone with a few bob!
