Hi everyone:

I have to do a research paper in Child Psych about how well children talk at the age of 2. I cannot remember little details like that and I wanted to ask anyone here if they could help....Here are a few questions I have...

1. Does he/she use complete sentences yet?

2. When speaking what words are usually mispronounced?

3. Do they associate the correct words with the correct items or places?

4. A cute story that happened when your child was speaking.

5. Does he/she use correct sound effects while playing?

6. What game does she/he play or toy they play with usually?

7. About when did he/she begin to say simple words?

8. First words?

9. Can he or she express emotions through words? This makes me mad and so on...

10. What words does he or she mispronounce that sound really cute? (appyjuice or allabody)

11. When speaking to him or her do they seem to understand what you are saying?

12. Do they seem to understand more words and their meanings better then they can use them?

Any help or stories you can come up with would be appreciated. Thanks for your help!!

My daughter, Mati, is 2 1/2, but at the age of 24 months(and tried to remember what my other kids said at that age)......

1. Does he/she use complete sentences yet?

Not really complete-she used 3/4 words to make her point. Example; "I want hug" or "I sleepy mommy"

2. When speaking what words are usually mispronounced?

Words beginning with L (replaced with a W), words with 'th' and with all my kids they tend to mix up their 'g's and 'd's

3. Do they associate the correct words with the correct items or places?

Yes

4. A cute story that happened when your child was speaking.

My son used to love seeing "firef#cks" Also, kids seem to really pick up on the words you say that have been given A Lot of inflection or emotion.

5. Does he/she use correct sound effects while playing?

Yes

6. What game does she/he play or toy they play with usually?

barbies, musical items, thomas the train (can do without the tracks)

7. About when did he/she begin to say simple words?

10-12 months. Simple words that express what they want...such as cracker, juice, that

8. First words?

mom, dad, her brother and sisters names

9. Can he or she express emotions through words? This makes me mad and so on...

50/50 for my kids at 2 years.

10. What words does he or she mispronounce that sound really cute? (appyjuice or allabody)

'goggy' for doggy or "whagoninon" (what's going on?)

11. When speaking to him or her do they seem to understand what you are saying?

At two their comprehension far surpassed their ability to speak.

12. Do they seem to understand more words and their meanings better then they can use them?

Yes

Hope this helped some.
