dennisflorida Posted April 13, 2010 Share Posted April 13, 2010 (edited) My Dad is single and has occasional bouts of depression. He is a nice well liked guy usually but has anxiety and quirks. But he can also be clueless and selfish too. It's weird. I hope i'm not like him. When he comes to visit me and my wife and our baby son, he isn't really there. He spends most of the time on his phone texting or trying to figure out his latest phone or checking scores on his phone, takes pictures of baby then spends time trying to edit them on his phone, basically the whole time he visits he's hooked to his phone, not paying attention to us, doesn't ask us how we've been, doesn't pay much attention to his grandson, then leaves when he's tired. I'm afraid to tell him to knock it off or tell him he's being rude because i fear he'll get depressed over it or hurt. He doesn't see his ways... What should I do? my wife doesn't appreciate it or get excited when he asks to come over anymore. I really don't feel any connection to my Dad anymore either. I mean he's never been "hands on hugs and kisses" with me my whole life, I've never been able to go to him for advice but He's really well, I don't feel like i know who he is.
