Have you ever met a person online that you were very attracted to their physical appearance by photos and webcam and their personality by chat and phone. You meet them in a chat room or a game room and their profile says, “Single and Looking” and you did find out for fact they are single and looking (long story but this is fact!). And you two chat and chat online and on the phone. They seem like you two’s friendship will most likely become a bf/gf relationship one day. You both agree that you would love to meet up with each other even though you both live several miles away. But both of your schedules with your work and all the organizations and events the both of you are in do not allow you to time to meet just before you find this next thing out.

After several months of talking to them online and by phone, you IM them one day and they chat with ya and before the conversation is over you find out that they were never attracted to your physical appearance just your personality. They said the first time they saw your photo (which was just right after you two meet online) all hopes of a bf/gf relationship were lost because they were not attracted to your physical appearance at all. They tell you that you are a great person and a great friend but nothing more would ever happen other than friends between them and you.

What is your opinion?

How would you feel?

Would you still remain friends with them?

Has anyone ever had this happen to them? Will you share a short verison of your story?

Look, this is the way of the dating world now...it's a gamble. But before you go investing your heart and emotions into someone you meet in a chatroom without any way to check a person's history YOU MUST realize that it's a crap shoot on the type of person you allow yourself to get involved with via the internet. Really until you are physically around this person and can see them and be with them daily or on a regular basis and learn about them IN PERSON...enjoy these chatroom hooks up and cosider it fun and games...don't build your hopes up by creating an imaginary "relationship" with the person on the other end of the line. That's nuts.

Agreed. You should never expect that what you have is anything other than an acquaintance that you could, just maybe, consider to be a friend until you've spent some time together in the real world. No expectations = no disappointments.

It happens all the time. You only see/know a tiny bit of a person at a distance. You have to meet someone and spend time with him to really know him.

Help anyone? Any ideas on why in the world someone would wait several months to tell you that there was no chance for a bf/gf relationship between the two of you after they saw your picture several months before and knew right then when they saw your picture that there was no chance? Even when they think you are a great person and a great friend! So RUDE!!

WHY??? That's the easiest thing to figure out. Believe it or not there are people who are just as many con artist who go after manipulating you r emotional as they would to manipulate you for your money. There are people who enjoy the full knowledge of being able to bait and luring you and then controlling the situation or your emotions by cutting you loose. Period. I am sure that if they are working you up they are working other people on-line as well. WHY DO YOU PUT VALUE INTO SOMEONE'S WORDS WHOM YOU DON'T KNOW. THis person is playing with your head...Simple. Here you are getting all worked up by what? Things they've written??? This is a good lesson for you to learn how not to buy into sugar coated words. DOn't allow your self esteem to be diminished because they have seen your picture..AGain this is manipulation and playing with your head...someone that you don't know is evaluating you and wants you to feel inferior because of their opinion about your pic....PUHLEASE!! SEE THIS AS MIND GAMES....Ask yourself who is the person and what is their history? Maybe they just got released from a mental instituition...

It is possible that they enjoy your company but they knew that when they told you of their dis-interest in more than friendship that you wouldn't continue. This is manipulation. They should have told you if they knew your interest was for a romantic hook-up. They strung you along for their own interests and not yours. It is called selfishness.
