This has probably been done to death, but I couldn't find it in search. What pics do you need to see? Will you take a chance on no body shot if has an amazing face? What pics make you nope out immediately?

For me, if the guy is wearing sunglasses or hat on his main pic, I don't bother looking at the rest. Same with main pic of two or more people. I swipe left on bait n switch.

Left on any shirtless pics, even if it's like them swimming or mowing your lawn. Know why you did that. Same with standing next to your luxury car. Seems kind of shallow, I guess.

Also, holding up any dead animal, including fish

LOL My ex-bf had that. I thought it was cute considering it was POF.

Afterwards I saw how many guys did that!

Lol. Oh my gosh, whoosh. I never computed that's why they did it. I thought that app just had a lot of guys who fished for some reason. On Okcupod there's this guy who keeps messaging me who I guess is a vet(I hope). he's in scrubs holding up a lifeless, bloody animal in his main pic.

I think what's interesting is men want (need?) a full body shot. I don't? I mean I can usually tell by the face/upper body/shoulders.I wonder if that's that's the case for most women. Idk.

Men are drawn to the hallmarks of fecundity. In addition to the breasts, these include the hips-to-waist ratio, which can't be judged in a face/upper body only shot.

True. You can tell a little by the face. But perhaps they need more... It seems likw it's always some kind of paranoia about them being overweight more than anything.

What pics do you need to see?

Will you take a chance on no body shot if has an amazing face?

What pics make you nope out immediately?

You know, I like the man who takes a shirtless 8 ab pack selfie photo in the bathroom because I can check out how neat he is.....to see if there are lots of spots on the mirror or if there is stuff all over the bathroom counter. And sometimes, if I am lucky, I get to see in the background, an unmade bed and clothes on the floor. A photo like this can provide so much more than a gorgeous face..... :D

The above description would fall under NOPE.

A man wearing sunglasses or a hat in a photo....NOPE.... unless there are other photos (up close facial/full body picture.)

Standing next to a car, motorcycle, boat or mansion....NOPE

I have seen many photos of men that have a body shot with no face. It is usually a 6 pack ab photo with the hand propped in the pants like Al Bundy (Married with Children reference for the younger peeps reading.) DOUBLE NOPE.

I like it simple.....a few up close facial photos, one or two full body shots....nothing fancy but recent (within a year) photos.

Years ago, a male friend complained about women and their profile photos, he suggested I check out some profiles. WOW! I totally get it. There are many women who put their cleavage out there, their duck/fish faces, etc.....some even hike their heinie in the air for all to see only to note they are not looking for a hook up. So, I completely understand issues with profile photos.

NOT GENDER SPECIFIC.

and I don't think I would take a chance on meeting someone without seeing the entire person in a photo. I figure, if I have close facial photos with a full body photo, I would hope the person I am interested in would too.

When the thumbnail photo does not, in any way, save for gender, resemble the pictures within the profile (EH). :lmao:

Just happened to me. A thumbnail image of a woman from another OLD site I've used was the thumbnail for a profile on EH who was someone of another ethnic background and age all together. Completely different person. I clicked through the pictures and none of them contained the thumbnail pic. How? I reported to EH.

I just wanted to see pictures of them vs. pictures of the adventures they've been on or sceneries they like (no sign of them in those photos). I didn't want to see pictures of the food theyve eaten or of their dog or new backyard fence either. Just him. And please, no dark/dimly lit photos.

I never understood a man using a picture with his ex and cutter her out, as if we wouldn't know. It's the summum of laziness and bad taste. In this day and age no excuses to not have recent new pictures.

I always had at least 5 pictures in my profile and always had one of my dog. It's a way to warn men I am a dog owner and it comes with a certain life style and responsibiity.

At first I didn't do that till the day I invited a man over for our 3rd date. Before entering I warned him about my dog and that's when I learn he was heavily allergic, we had to turn around.

More pictures the better. It's all good information. A man with a picture of his Harley Davidson is a good indication of his life style, in my case it does not fit with mine so I skipped the profile with motorcycle, same with men putting picture of their 100 visits to Cuba, it was a good indication we were not compatible as I can hardly leave my office for more than a week and I can't afford Cuba 4 times a year.

Because CW says you should have a full face relative close up & a full body shot, as long as both existed, I would keep looking / reading. The order of the photos was of no moment. If the "main" pic was sunglasses, as long as there were other pics without them, it didn't bother me. If I couldn't see his eyes or hairline, that was a caution. If the bio was awesome, I kept going. My 2nd OLD date ever, the guy had no pictures. Before we met, he sent me one . . . him in an Indiana Jones hat. I wasn't thrilled. It got worse in person (i.e. the hat pic was as good as it got). All group shots, edited / badly cropped group shots or blacked out faces were a problem for me because I couldn't help but think this guy can't follow directions; they tell you not to use group shots. A shirtless picture is OK; all shirtless is ridiculous. I wanted to see casual & dressed up. I love a man in a suit.

My main pic was a candid medium range shot of me; there was a sideways full body shot of me in a maxi dress sitting on a couch with my feet up & a professional head shot taken for business related publicity photos.

Cookiesanddough -- you like what you like but maybe be a tad more open. If you aren't into hunting & fishing, fine skip those guys. Even if the 1st pic is sunglasses or a hat, see if there are other pics. Don't get hung up on the order of the pictures & reject a good guy for something so trivial. Similarly 1 shirtless or car pic isn't horrible, although if all of them are that, skip him.

You keep saying you want a relationship but I worry because most of what you do / say / think / post leads to the opposite result.

I think it is courteous to have at least one clear (unedited)

face picture and one full body shot. The rest is optional, although I like pictures showing interests.

E.g. I'd skip people that have 5 pics in a big group or in a night club because this suggests a life style I'm not meshing well with.

Shirtless pics or car pics - I just find it laughable. I absolutely can gauge body type without seeing it naked and bragging about material possessions is.. superficial at best.

I was always surprised how little effort people put into the actual photo. Many pictures seem to be taken at events with a cell phone camera and are slightly blurry. Add some makeup and a flash, and you can't see that much of the face at all. It also has the effect that this type of picture is almost indistinguishable from the next.

So, unless the picture looked outright horrible I went largely by the profile text.

You're right. Sometimes those pictures do give you an idea of what he's into which can help determine if you're compatible (assuming he's being honest) but pictures of food? I don't get that. It's also annoying when they have only 1 picture of himself and 10 of Cuba. Makes me thin he doesn't want me to see him. Just put several pictures of yourself up and if you have some left then put some Cuba pictures up.

It's not paranoia. Most women's profiles online are misleading at best. All of the pics are filtered, taken from the perfect angle, with their cleavage being in the center of the photo. Almost every profile. Almost every girl looks good in those type of photos. You can also count on ladies lying about their body type. Average means overweight and curvy means fat.

I am not really hung up on looks, but I quickly learned that if she didn't have a full body photo, she was fat.

This. I've found women to be masters of body deception in pics and skip over face only pics now.

This also includes those crouching, hiding behind a kid / tree / dog, filters, etc.

On my first ever old date I was met by a woman who was easily 60 lbs heavier than her myspace angle photo led me to believe. I've learned a lot since then and realized that if they aren't putting up a full body pic they are fat.

What's crazy is there are tons of guys who like bigger women. Why not just go with those guys?

A face only pic says nothing about a woman's body.

Women do this as well. I've seen pics where you can still see the guys hand around her waist.

Classy.

I agree with enigma. It's not paranoia.

Look, for most men, their attraction for someone starts with the visual. And that includes her body below the neckline.

It's for me not a matter of "she has a cute face but I am really really worried that she is hiding that she is 100 pounds overweight" and more "I need to see what she looks like from the neck down (as I would on a first date) to know if I'd be attracted otherwise meeting up would be a waste of time"

Just provide a full-body shot, as you might look showing up for a first date. You don't need to put anything too revealing--your goal is to show what you look like to prospective dates, not to entertain the guys stopping by your profile.

I actually don't mind shirtless pics *unless* it's a headless torso and no other photo.

What do I absolutely need from photos? Enough to be able to recognize him on the street and have the sense that I'd be attracted if his pics are truly representative. Couldn't care less if they're selfies or not (I see a lot of stigma against selfies in profiles for some reason).

Its really a moot point(no experience with it), but in terms of this discussion I often wonder how it might work out when someone's appearance doesn't really match their persona...??

That's a good question. I had that happen last night. The person's ' persona completely different than what I thought it would be. I even sort of mentioned it to him. It's hard to explain but I had an impression of what his personality/expressions/mannerisms/posture/voice based on his pics and the way he wrote. His were good, but completely different than what I was expecting. He looked quite a bit different than his pics too, but maybe that's to be expected? I've had that happen 3 times (out of about 5) now where they look better in pics.

It's unfortunate and shallow, but, yeah, I think the first thing anyone looks at is the pic. Is the person attractive? Then read the profile.

And asking for a body pic if one isn't there isn't always a bad thing. I learned that the hard way. Back when I was using OLD I agreed to meet one woman who had nothing but head shots. Yes, you'll call me shallow and maybe sexist, but she was just SO BIG that there was absolutely zero attraction for me. Yes, a person can have a great personality, but I was embarrassed and I think she was embarrassed. I hated it. I felt like a jerk but just could not see dating her. I'm no fitness model myself. So....just to save in person embarrassment, I think it's a good idea.

And, as far as immediate turnoffs: Them with their gun or them with the confederate battle flag is an immediate no. I'm sure if that's what's on their profile they are looking for a man who shares their political beliefs so there is intent to the pics. But for me, an instant no.

That's not necessarily true. I don't put up body pics and my BMI is under 18.

I usually pass over snapchat filters. The animal ears... flower crowns. It's overused, like the girl version of a shirtless pic.

Probably at least one full body and one close-up face should suffice. I am ok with certain body types, but if someone shows only their face to hide their body, it can show secretiveness, dishonesty, or other negative traits. Words have a lot more weight for me than pics, though. Pardon the pun.
