There's so much goodness in the world. Don't let the sad times last too long.

Just a little story I wrote some time ago when a tad down.

Once upon a time there were two magic, mountain lakes. From each lake flowed a tiny stream; one boy stream and one girl stream, filled with the purest crystal water ever imaginable. These two streams had been flowing aimlessly and lonely through the mountain for many years when one day they met. The boy stream really liked the girl stream and asked her to be with him. Very soon after meeting, they fell so much in love and decided that they would travel together forever, on their unknown journey. As each day passed the boy streams love for the girl stream grew more and more. In his heart he could never ever imagine being separated from her. She was the most beautiful stream he had ever seen, and when the sun shone down upon her pure crystal water and she smiled at him, his heart just melted. Over the years the streams traveled to some beautiful places and they were so happy. They passed many other streams on their journey and sometimes the girl stream got worried and thought that the boy stream would leave her and start traveling with another stream. He assured her that this would never happen. He was so in love with her. No other stream came close to her beauty and he would stay with, take care of, and love her forever. That was his promise to her. At times they encountered rocky ground and small whirlpools and waves formed. This upset the girl stream, but the boy stream knew that it was just part of their journey and that it was only temporary. A couple of times they even passed through dark caves. The girl stream became sad and frightened. She thought that she that she would never see the sun again, but the boy stream assured her that his love would guide her through the darkness and she would always be safe. One day after they had been traveling in a deep canyon for some time the girl stream saw what she thought was a peaceful oasis. The oasis was extremely attracted to the beauty and magic of the girl stream. He wanted her, and would do and say anything to have her join him. He didn’t care about who he hurt or what consequences his actions caused. The boy stream got extremely upset and worried. He knew, that in fact it wasn’t an oasis that she had seen, but a swamp, cleverly disguised. Beneath its attractive facade, were deep pools of filthy, murky, slime. The swamp thought that if he could capture the beauty of the girl stream, then he might appear to be better than he really was. The girl stream was confused but also excited by the change to her life; after all she had traveled with the boy stream for a very long time and now she was in a strange and mysterious place. The boy stream tried to tell the girl stream that together they could achieve anything; their love was so great, and if she stayed traveling with him, soon they would reach the ocean and all it’s wonder and beauty, and from that day on they would have the most magical, exciting adventures that they could imagine. But the girl stream had started to spend too much time in the swamp, and started to like it. There were no rocky depths, no whirlpools or caves. It was a simple life, and when she was in the swamps peaceful facade she could rest. Meanwhile, the boy stream grew more and more sad every day. He missed the girl stream so incredibly much and his heart was now not only broken, but his spirit had started to die. He cried each and ever day; hoping that his tears would wash away the filth of the swamp and return his gorgeous girl stream back to him. He tried everything he could imagine to bring her back, but she wouldn’t return. Over time he noticed that the murk and filth of the swamp was slowly tainting the girl stream. She was changing, and her glow and sparkle slowly began to fade. Her purity started to disappear. He couldn’t see that amazing, magic smile anymore. It was gone. He missed it so, so, so much. His heart was dying. After more than a year had passed; and he was now even more sad than he ever been before, he tried with all his effort to wash away the swamp one more time. He used nearly all the water from the magic lake to cry a billion tears, but he just couldn’t wash the filth of the swamp away. He began to realise that nothing he could do would bring his beautiful girl stream back to him. He must stop trying to get her back, or else, he and the magic lake would die forever. The boy stream didn’t understand why the infinite love he had for the girl stream wasn’t working. What was he to do? How would he continue his journey to the ocean without her beside him? Who would he give his love to? Who would love him? Who would he share his adventures with? The boy stream knew that he would always love the memory of his gorgeous girl stream. He knew, deep in his heart, that if they had stayed together and she had trusted him like he had trusted her, they would have been so incredibly happy forever; but now he also knew that the time she had spent in the swamp had caused him so much pain and sadness, that life between them would never be the same again. The boy stream wished it could have been different. He wished his tears and prayers could have made it so; but it wasn’t, and he now had to leave the girl stream to travel her own journey. The boy stream will always cry when he sees the girl stream, because deep down, his love for her will never die. In his heart he will always hold onto the memory of the smile and glow of the purist, most gorgeous girl stream he has ever seen.

Um, did you have a question OP?

Meanwhile (breaking up into) paragraphs is your friend. And so is brevity and straight talk. You lost me on "boy streams" and "girl streams" I'm sorry.

No questions..streams was a metaphor. If you had to ask it doesn't matter. Cheers from OZ ( aka the Land Down Under)

I did end up going through it. I am sorry for your loss of your love to someone else, OP.

How old are you both? You sound young and naive. For one thing, people aren't all pure as you seem to be envisioning your lost girlfriend (or yourself) to have ever been, we all are a mix of both good and bad.

Not so young physically…we were together 22 years. I wrote my little tale about 7 years ago. I’m quite emotionally stable, in my mind :-)….just passing on some of my thoughts to the younger folk whom may be a little troubled/confused. There are many cliches out there, and most don't help. Mine won’t ! either; just letting people know, that it’s ok to be sad. Don’t do anything crazy: life is too precious. Once again, cheers mate from Australia.

P.S the story was written for children...or adults with a young heart, like mine.

Wow, 22 years....I'm quite sorry to hear this mate, and I hope you are better now.

You may do well upon other readers though to expand upon your story though.
