Bumble?!

Hi. I just signed up for Bumble for the first time because it seems like the least likely app to be hassled by unwanted suitors on. Does anyone have experience with this app??You only have 24 hours to message someone? That seems like a short time. How does this app stack up to others? So far I'm seeing a lot of really attractive (like male model, out of my league aesthetic types) I'm guessing that's the drip feed thing to pull me in? Is it the same people who are just looking for validation they're attractive and hookup crowd like tinder? I have no idea. Any luck on here? Any experiences appreciated

I was on Bumble for a few weeks. The idea appealed to me - I as the female would have to message the guy first, hence, no unwanted first messages.

However, as a huge wuss, I learned this was not the app for me. lol

I did see a lot of the same guys I saw on Tinder and OKCupid, though.

It's just 24 hours to say something, not 24 hours to go out. Why, is there some stigma against messaging someone too soon? The world moves fast these days. The time limit is designed to put you into action rather than matching with someone and having the ability to never do anything about it.

Whenever you start a new session, I think they front load the first half dozen profiles with very, very attractive people. I thought they were fake at first but I did end up matching with some of those girls.

Do people really do this? Also, it's very presumptuous to paint and entire ap's user base with that brush. All you can deduce from it is that it's for people who want to date under those prescribed circumstances: women who don't want to be bothered by undesirable men.

It's been great for me. Not a "hook up" ap as some people think, for some reason.

This is basically the downside of the ap. Women want the undesirable guys filtered out, but oftentimes they also don't want to initiate the conversation with the guys that do make the cut, which isn't possible in the ap. Although it's pretty easily solved if you just make an innocuous greeting or comment; if you've matched with the guy, you know there's mutual attraction already.

I closed it last night..hours after I tried it. I really only wanted to see what it was about anyway, not actually looking, but man...it's hard to think of an opener. I see how men feel!!!

Thanks for the i depth post, normal person! Very informative. Yeah, I think the 24 hour thing is a good concept. Not a bad dating appIMO

I equate Bumble to Target and Tinder to Walmart

YMMV

I’ve had better luck on Bumble than all other dating apps or sites I have tried in the past. I am recently single so two of my single friends suggested Bumble. I noticed that the quality of men is much higher (in terms of attractiveness, education, etc.) than other apps. I match frequently and have no problem at all initiating conversation. Mostly I just say “hi!” or “how’s your weekend going”, something simple. It’s not hard. As with any app, you either “click” with the messaging or it falls short. You can usually weed people out easily if the conversation isn’t flowing right away. Sometimes it just falls off. I went out with my very first Bumble guy in the end of January. He was attractive, educated and successful. We talked nearly daily and had three dates. That is a big difference from my OLD experiences of the past, maybe for various reasons besides it being Bumble. I had a first date with another Bumble guy last week and we have been in contact since and planning to get together again on Sunday. Currently chatting with another one now. I recommend Bumble over Tinder or OKC.

It's funny how women are so quick to dismiss a guy who says "Hi" or "Hey" in their first message, yet when I receive a message from a girl on Bumble most of the time it is exactly that.

I did some research on Bumble and it appears their algorithm will front load the women (or men) who get the most right swipes (ie: most attractive) to people who are new users or have not used the app for a while.

As you swipe through and you'll find the people get more and more unattractive.

I've had several women match with me that didn't message and therefore disappeared. I've had others that sent me a "Hey, how are you" and I reply with "Great! How are you?" and never hear from them again.

I've had many others that will message back and forth and disappear.

I think I've only had one girl I dated from the app.

Overall the quality seems much better than Tinder women and has less of a "hook up" stigma that Tinder does. The interface is also better (allows you to zoom in on pics, gives you 3 "backtracks" in case you swipe left when you meant to swipe right, allows you to scroll through the pics without clicking on them, etc.).

I've seen some profiles from women stating that "I expect the guy to reach out to the woman first so if we match message me on Instagram". What's crazy about that is I'm sure a lot of guys will.

Oh another thing I prefer about Bumble over Tinder is they don't have that "Superlike" feature. You do that by swiping up rather than left or right.

I've accidentally superliked several women who I meant to swipe left on. The last one was a post-op trans woman. TOTALLY didn't mean to superlike her!
