Decision

So I am 23 and currently attending school online. I'm currently living with my boyfriend but thinking of breaking up with him. If I do, I can choose to go back to Mississippi (a place that makes me sad) and finish school in person or I can try to move alone to a new place and start a new life. I honestly do not want to end up in Mississippi or with a guy that's from there. I'm afraid if I do school there, I'll never leave. It would be easier to go to school there but probably not the happiest. I lived in LA for 7 months recently (with my boyfriend). Would it be stupid for me to try to go there and start a life there and keep doing school online? I feel like I could meet a more successful man there or a man with drive compared to a man in Mississippi who may never leave his mothers street. It's such a huge decision though.

Hi Hayhay,

Well, you already have your answer.

Read what you said "I honestly do not want to end up in Mississippi or with a guy that's from there. I'm afraid if I do school there, I'll never leave. It would be easier to go to school there but probably not the happiest"

But I think what your looking for is the push, to start you rolling down the hill.

So "Nudge", there you go.

Free yourself from a relationship you feel is dragging down your life.

Find another place to stay. Look at renting/sharing with another female.

Concentrate on school more than guys (This is important, unless you are a gifted student).

Most importantly, don't look back, and DONT think whether you made a mistake or not. This is the worst thing to do.

It prevents a clean break, and holds you back from forging ahead full bore.

As long as you put ALL your energy and time into school, you would lose NOTHING. You would gain an education, and a future for yourself, and your new family when it comes time to start one.

Best of all, you will provide yourself confidence to choose whomever (Yes, I use the word "Whom", see education works) you wanted to start a relationship.

Its a win, win situation for you. Don't allow yourself to work at Walmart, or where ever low paying jobs are found in the future. Unless its part time to pay for food. rent AND school.

Listen to Superchicken, instead of being a chicken.

Ted.

I've got a solid piece of advice for you, and that is wherever you move, don't do it with meeting a man in mind. Your goal needs to be to be able to afford to take care of yourself. You can always get a bf, but you're always going to end up stuck in lackluster or abusive relationships if you rely on them for anything except companionship while you're young and single.

LA is super expensive. I never once felt I could afford to live there. Why not move to someplace not as expensive but more culturally exciting, just a medium sized town with something to offer. Nashville, Atlanta, or even a smaller college town since you're going to be going to school, like San Marcos, TX, which has beautiful water and is close to Austin. No place is real cheap though, and it's hard to make ends meet even when NOT going to school. Do you have any girlfriends who you might team up with? Otherwise, I think you should stay put and get your degree right there where you can afford it, and no, you won't be stuck there. Once you have your schooling, you can start job searches anywhere.

Good luck! Just learn to depend on yourself, that's the important thing.
