How should I approach my lab partner?

Recommended Posts

Over the course of this semester, I have developed a crush on my lab partner for physics. In the beginning, she sat next to her friend in class but shortly after we knew each other, she started sitting next to me instead, so we'd usually usually before and after class as well as after lab. Outside for class, we study for exams together but don't really do much otherwise. Obviously, I don't want to actually ask her out before the semester is over to avoid making lab awkward, but how should I go about handling this? Also, I'm a little disappointed that she's been ditching class lately, so now the only time I see her is lab. I'm pretty certain she's not avoiding me, since we studied together in the library two days ago for our exam (and she's hardly the only one in my physics who ditches), but I fear that she doesn't really like me more than a friend, since it implies she doesn't seem too urgent to see me.. Should I ask her to go some sort of event or hang out with her without it being a "date"? What else should I do in this situation?

With a pitri dish?

Just ask her.....

I'll officially ask her after the semester, since I don't want to screw up our labs together in case she says no. But idk what i should be doing now

"We have some chemistry, let me show you that we can create NaCO3 (sodium carbonate) together"

But on a real note... yeah just ask her on a simple date. Get to know each other further and just let things progress from there.

You better ask her out on a real date, or you really will always just be friends. You can't wait on that stuff. If it isn't urgent on both sides, it's probably not going to happen anyway. If she had a crush on you I think she'd be coming to class, honestly, and not missing that opportunity. But she might think YOU are the one who wants to just be friends, so you better ask her out.

Have you flirted with her? Is she showing any interest in you?

I always think it's good to lay some foundations first.

Physics, wow! That was a tough class for me, so I'm glad you have someone to study with!

Have you thought about a group "date"? Maybe the next time you and some of your friends are going to hang out, ask if she wants to come... tell her she can bring friends too.

Good luck!
