So, meetup.com doesn't guarantee a friendship...

Recommended Posts

I met up with a someone from meetup.com-from a shyness group, we met for coffee/talked, exchanged numbers, she said that we could hang out again and even meet up with her friend from the same group, etc, etc. This was back in May-a few weeks later-I sent her a text-just asking what she's been up to, etc, etc. She didn't mention anything about hanging out again-and I didn't say anything. She hasn't texted me since. I don't want to be a pest-I do want to keep a friendship going, but friendship is a 2 way street, and from past experiences-there's been times when I would reach out to people only to be snubbed and I'm sick of doing all the initiating. Should I text her again and she is she wants to hang out? I think meetup's are good for meeting new people and just having to do something for that day-as far as making true friendships-that isn't always the case-either you connect with someone or you don't.

You met in a shyness group. By definition if you are strong enough to do the initiating, by all means continue. Because of where you met her, you have to assume she does not know how to initiate & is almost too shut down to respond.

I used to kind of joke around with my friends when we saw that there was a "Shyness and Anxiety Meetup" group...we kind of joked, "If everyone's too shy, then how to they socialize?" as if it was self-defeating. LOL

Or do people with shyness and anxiety ever come? :)

Nothing guarantees friendship, especially not a website.

Friendships are earned through time.

My thoughts exactly! And they sometimes take a bit of work, like relationships, some succeed and some fail. Just ask to go get some cake and coffee together and have fun :)
