Do sports-loving guys want a woman who is into sports?

Recommended Posts

Guys give me your honest opinion. I noticed a lot of the guys in my group of friends love professional sports. Not too surprising. When we all get together, some of the girls in the group know a lot about the teams and the players as well. Some of them are into it. I've NEVER been into it and it makes me feel like I'm supposed to be following sports. some of the other girls in the group are able to carry on conversations about the teams. The other day they were talking about the college team and even the PERSONAL LIFE of the head football coach. I sat there thinking "who in the hell cares?!" but I am also thinking shoot, do guys want a girl who is interested in this topic? I just feel like i'd be faking it or forcing myself to follow the sports teams. I could see myself supporting a team if say my boyfriend was into it, but otherwise I really have no interest. I wanted to shout out, when they were essentially gossiping about this man's personal life, "WHO CARES?!" Even a couple of the girls int he group were really interested in this topic. Why do we have to sit around and talk about this guy's marriage?!?! But the only reason I didn't is because I didn't to be the subject of their later gossip lol

Just be yourself. Always be yourself. A guy won't turn you down because you're not into it (just like a woman won't turn a guy down if he's not into her feminine hobby), and if he does, he's retarded.

That said, if you end up with a sports-loving guy, you may find yourself getting into it, even a little bit, because he always has a game on and it's inevitable that you end up watching it.

Just make sure he engages in some of your hobbies with you too.

thanks popsicle. that's a good point. I didn't even think of that - yes there are a lot of female things I do that I would not expect a guy to be into. and I definitely agree that i would get into a sports team my significant other was into, just by virtue of watching the team with him and such.

I have always been with sports-loving guys. At a few points in time, I wasn't into it in the slightest, and other times I was into it. Neither made a difference.

I'm an athletic and sports-loving girl, and I've found it doesn't really matter. I've never found men to be bothered either way about whether their girlfriend is or isn't into sports, so long as she doesn't hinder him from enjoying his sports.

I love sports (not American ones though  ) and I'd love if my girl was into them to some degree but she doesn't give a toss :p

Doesn't bother me a great deal.

I've seen some women really get into whatever their guy is into, whether it be sports, cars, alcohol, even porn, when the girl deems the guy so desirable that she fears losing him.

I think a lot of guys would love to be able to share their hobbies with their women. I know I would. However, most guys I know don't hold that sort of thing against you ladies, it's just kinda seen as a bonus if you like the same things.

Where I live, it seems 99% of the women are into sports as much or more than the men. I'm not really a sports guy, but I do like video games. I couldn't find a decent gamer chick in this area if my life depended on it.

I don't care for watching sports, I get a kick out of women who demand "He must like sports!"...funny how women are liking sports now. I remember there was a time women couldn't stand sports and stay in one room and chat and drink tea while the men were in the living room watching the big game.

Yes, that was the 50s. The world has moved on since.
